Reminiscent of French macaron cookies, these delightful scrubbies look good enough to eat. Thanks to the three layers of crochet, these scrubbies are durable; plus, they are so versatile they will be useful anywhere around the house, whether you use them to add some whimsy to your dish washing or keep them near the living room in case of emergency spills.

Medium weight yarn Knit Picks Dishie (100% Cotton; 190 yards [174 meters]/100 grams): 26668 Blush (MC), 1 ball; 27037 Clarity (CC1), 1 ball; 27038 Lilac Mist (CC2), 1 ball; 27041 Mint (CC3), 1 ball

Hook: US size H/5 (5.0 mm)

Special Stitches

3dc-CL: Yo, insert hook into st indicated, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, (yo, insert hook into same st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops) twice, yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook.

4dc-CL: Yo, insert hook into st indicated, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, (yo, insert hook into same st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops) three times, yo, pull through all 5 loops on hook.

This pattern is turned after the first round so that the cluster stitches are visible on the RS of the work.

Macaron Shell (make 2)

With MC, make magic ring.

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 1, 6 sc into the magic ring, join in beg sc with sl st, turn – 6 sts.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, work 3dc-CL in next st, *ch 1, 4dc-CL in next st; rep from * around, join in top of the 3dc-CL with  sl st – 6 CL, 6 ch-1 sps.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, work 3dc-CL in next st, *ch 1, 4dc-CL in next st; rep from * around, join in top of the 3dc-CL with sl st – 12 CL, 12 ch-1 sps.

Rnd 4: Ch 3, work 3dc-CL in next st, *ch 1, 4dc-CL in next st; rep from * around, join in top of the 3dc-CL with sl st – 24 CL, 24 ch-1 sps.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Rep Macaron Shell (make 2) with CC2 and CC3.

Macaron Filling (make 3)

With CC1, make magic ring.

Rnd 1: Ch1, 6 sc into the magic ring, join in beg sc with sl st – 6 sts.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join in beg sc with sl st – 12 sts.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around, join in beg sc with sl st – 18 sts.

Rnd 4: Ch 1, *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around, join in beg sc with sl st – 24 sts.

Rnd 5: Ch 1, *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around, join in beg sc with sl st – 30 sts.

Rnd 6: Ch 1, *sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around, join in beg sc with sl st – 36 sts.

Rnd 7: Ch 1, *sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around, join in beg sc with sl st – 42 sts.

Fasten off. Weave all ends.

Finishing

Place the Macaron Filling in between two Macaron Shells.

Using the yarn tail and tapestry needle, sew the filling and shells together.
