To Have & To Hold Lacy Mitts

Say “I do” to this elegant accessory! These lightweight lacy mitts have just the right amount of charm and personality to set the tone for your big day. All eyes will be on you when you wear this pattern, which is worked in the round with slip stitch joins—and a whole lot of style.

Size: Small (Medium, Large), to fit hands about 3 (3½, 4)” across wrist, 6 (7, 8)” wrist circumference, 6 (6½, 7)” long.

Gauge: 10 sts and 4 rows = about 1” [2.54 cm] in Dc after wet blocking

Yarn:

Lace weight yarn Nazli Gelin Garden 10 (100% Egyptian Giza Mercerized Cotton; 306 yards [280 meters]/50 grams): Country Blue (MC), 1 ball; Soft White (CC), 1 ball

Hook: US size 5 (1.9 mm) steel hook

Notions: Tapestry needle; removable stitch marker

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked in the round with no turning from the wrist to the fingers.

All joins are made with slip stitch unless otherwise stated in pattern.

Mitt (make 2)

Rnd 1: With CC, work 48 (56, 64) foundation sc, join in first sc being careful not to twist ring – 48 (56, 64) sc.

Rnd 2: Ch1, sc in same st, sc in each st around, do not join in first sc, begin working in continuous rnds.

Note: Use a stitch marker in last sc to help keep track of end of rnds.

Rnds 3-5: Sc in each st around, changing to MC at end of Rnd 5, join with sl st in first sc.

Rnd 6: With MC, ch 3 (counts as a dc here and throughout), dc in next 2 sts, ch 3, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st, ch 3, sk next 2 sts, *dc in next 3 sts, ch 3, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st, ch 3, sk next 2 sts; rep from * around, join with sl st to top of first ch-3 – 18 dc, 6 sc, 12 ch-3 sp (21 dc, 7 sc, 14 ch-3 sp; 24 dc, 8 sc, 16 ch-3 sp).

Rnd 32 (34, 36): Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 2, sc in same st, (hdc, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 3 dc, hdc) in next ch-7 sp, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in next sc, (hdc, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 3 dc, hdc) in next ch-7 sp; rep from * around, join with sl st in first sc, do not fasten off.

Thumbhole: Sk next 6 (8, 10) sts, sl st in next sc to form thumbhole, fasten off.

Note: You can choose to make the thumbhole smaller or wider by skipping more or less sc or omit altogether for lace cuffs instead.

Finishing

Weave in all ends. A strong wet block is recommended for this project.
