Sydney Harbors Scarf

A filet mesh design with added popcorns for texture makes this a fun and flirty scarf for a summer adventure. Crocheted with cotton, this scarf is lightweight and stylish with tassels at each end.

Size: 72″ x 7″

Gauge: 18 sts and 8 rows = 4” [10 cm] over pattern

Fine weight yarn Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima Fine (100% Cotton; 136 yards [125 meters]/50 grams): 3736 Ice, 3 balls

Hook: US size 4/E (3.5 mm)

Special Stitches

Popcorn (PC)

Work 5 dc in st indicated. Remove hook from last dc, insert it in top of beginning st and in last st, pull through, ch 1 to close.

Pattern Notes

Scarf is worked in a single piece, starting at one point and increasing on one side only for 19 rows. Pattern is worked straight for 104 rows and then decreased on one side only for 19 rows to finish to a point.

Ch 4 counts dc, ch 1.

Ch 5 counts as tr, ch 1.

Row 1: Dc in 5th ch from hook, turn.

Row 2: Ch 5 (counts as tr, ch 1), dc in dc (at base of ch 5) (increase made) ch 1, dc in 4th ch of beg ch-5, turn – 3 dc, 2 ch-1.

Row 3: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), sk first ch-1 sp, dc in next dc, ch 1, (dc, ch 1, dc) in 4th ch of beg ch-5, turn – 4 dc, 3 ch-1.

Row 22: Rep Row 20.

Rep Rows 20-23 for a total of 123 rows or until Scarf meas required length, ending on Row 23.

Start Decreasing

Row 126: Rep Row 124.

Rows 128-135: Rep Rows 124-127 twice.

Row 138: Rep Row 124.

Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in ends, and block to shape.

Make 2 tassels and attach by sewing to each long point of Scarf. yarn ball

    Please try again with a change of the yarn colour; and maybe even a different size crochet hook. This sometimes helps me whne a new pattern seems impossible!

    I’m having a lot of difficulty with this pattern. I’ve done many easy patterns, but this was is challenging. I’ve tried 5 times, but it’s very confusing.
