The Chevron Edged Shawl is a perfect piece for warm weather, whether to wear over a little black dress for a wedding or a garden party.

Gauge: 14 sts and 16 rows = 4” [10 cm] in hdc after wet blocking

Fine Weight Yarn Cascade Yarns Venezia Sport (70% Merino Wool, 30% Silk; 307 yards [281 meters]/100 grams): 301 Dahlia (2 skeins)

Hook: US size H/8 (5.0 mm)

The shawl is worked from the bottom up, beginning with the chevron edge, then transitions to the body of the shawl using short-rows to shape.

Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, *(sk next ch, ch 1, dc in next ch) 3 times, sk next ch, ch 1, dc2tog (skipping 3 ch between dc), (sk next ch, ch 1, dc in next ch) 3 times, sk next ch, ch 1, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next ch; rep from * across row, ending with (dc, ch 1, dc) in last ch, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in 1st dc, dc over ch-1 sp, (dc in next dc, dc over ch-1 sp) 3 times, dc2tog (skipping ch-1 sp, dc2tog, ch-1 sp between dcs), (dc over ch, dc in next dc) 3 times, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) over ch-3 sp, (dc in next dc, dc over ch-1 sp) 3 times; rep from * across, ending with (dc over ch-1 sp, dc in next dc) 3 times, dc over ch, (dc, ch-1, dc) in tch, turn.

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in 1st dc, skipping ch-1 sp throughout, *sc in next dc, hdc in next dc, dc in next dc, tr2tog (skipping dc2tog), dc in next dc, hdc in next dc, sc in next dc, 2 sc in ch-3 sp; rep from * across row, ending with 2 sc in tch, turn. (118 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in 70 sts, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in 22 sts, turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, hdc in 1st hdc and each hdc sts across, hdc in top of ch-2, hdc in tch, working in edging sts, hdc in next 2 sts, hdc2tog, turn.

Rep Row 4 until 1 or 2 sts rem, hdc rem st(s).

Next Row: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc across row.

Fasten off.

Finishing
