These toddler mary janes are easy to make and are endlessly adorable. With some basic crochet skills like working in the round and easy increases and decreases, you can whip up a pair for every adorable little girl on your gift list.

Size: ​2.25” wide x 4.5” in length.

Gauge: ​17 sts and 18 rows = 4” [10 cm] in single crochet

Materials

Yarn: Lily Sugar’n Cream (100% Cotton; 200 yards [184 meters]/113 grams): Indigo (1 skein)

Hook: ​US size H/8 (5 mm)

Notions: 7/8” wide grosgrain ribbon of your choice, sewing needle and coordinating thread, lighter (optional), scissors, tapestry needle.

Ch 12.

Rnd 1: Sc 3 in second ch from hook, sc in next 9 sts, 2 sc in next. Working in back bumps of foundation ch, sc in next 10 sts, sl to join into rnd. (24 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, (2 sc in next st) 3 times, sc in next 8 sts, *2 sc in next st; rep from * 3 more times, sc in next 8 sts, sl to join. (30 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, *(sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) 3 times, sc in next 9 sts; rep from * twice more, sl to join. (36 sts)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, *(sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) 3 times, sc in next 9 sts; rep from * twice more, sl to join. (42 sts)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, *(sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) 3 times, sc in next 9 sts; rep from * twice more, sl to join. (48 sts)

Rnds 6-7: Ch 1, sc tbl in next 48 st, sl to join.

Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in next 20 sts, *sc2tog, sc in next 5 sts; rep from * 3 more times, sl to join. (44 sts)

Rnd 9: Ch 1, sc in next 19 sts, *sc2tog, sc in next 4 sts; rep from * 3 more times, sl to join. (40 sts)

Rnd 10: Ch 1, sc in next 15 sts, *sc2tog, sc in next 3 sts; rep from * 4 more times, sl to join. (35 sts)

Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc in next 15 sts, *sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts; rep from * 4 more times, sl to join. (30 sts)

Rnd 12: Ch 1, sc in next 15 sts, *sc2tog, sc in next st; rep from * 4 more times, sl to join. (25 sts)

Finishing

Weave in all ends.

Cut four 13” pieces of grosgrain ribbon. Snip notches into one end of each ribbon as shown, sealing with a lighter if necessary to avoid raveling. Sew unnotched end of ribbon to either side of each shoe.
