Margot Queen Anne’s Scarf

Margot is a beautiful scarf worked in gradient yarn. It follows the beautiful Queen Anne’s pattern which is very elegant and airy. Have fun playing with multiple colorways to create a lovely look that’s uniquely you.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: 80” long x 7” wide

Gauge: First motif is 3” wide after wet blocking

Materials

Medium weight yarnYarn: Red Heart Unforgettable (100% Acrylic; 270 yards [246 meters]/100 grams): 3965 Candied 2 balls

Hook: US size G/6 (4 mm)

Notions: Tapestry needle.

This pattern is very visual. Instructions can only work if you can read your work properly.

Pattern

Strip 1

Motif 1

Ch 8, join to make a ring with sl st into the first ch.

Row 1: Ch 3 (count as dc), 19 dc in ring, turn.

Row 2: Ch 4 (count as dc, ch 1), (dc in next dc, ch 1) 18 times, dc in 3rd ch, turn.

Row 3: (Ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp) 19 times.

Motif 2

Ch 5, sl st into the top of first dc of Row 1 of Motif 1, ch 3, sl st into the top of last dc on Row 2 of Motif 1 on the other side of the gap, turn.

Row 1: Work 12 dc in ch-5 sp, turn.

Row 2: Ch 4 (count as dc, ch 1), (dc in next dc, ch 1) 11 times, dc in last dc, sl st into closest ch-3 sp on Row 3 of Motif 1, turn.

Row 3: (Ch 3, sc in next ch-1-sp) 12 times.

Motif 3 and the rest of motifs

Ch 5, sl st into the top of first dc of Row 1, ch 3, sl st into the 2nd closest ch-3 sp of one to the last Motif made.

Row 1: Work 12 dc in ch-5-sp, turn.

Row 2: Ch 4 (count as dc, ch 1), (dc in next dc, ch1) 11 times, dc in last dc, sl st into next ch-3-sp on row 3 of one to the last motif, turn.

Row 3: (Ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp) 12 times.

Rep Motif 3, 49 times.

Last Motif

Ch 7, sl st into the top of first dc of Row 1, ch 3, sl st into the 2nd closest ch-3 sp of one to the last motif made.

Row 1: Work 16 dc in ch-7 sp, sl st into the 2nd ch-3 sp of the last motif, turn.

Row 2: Ch 4 (count as dc, ch 1), sl st into the 3rd ch-3 sp of last motif, (dc in next dc, ch 1) 15 times, dc in last dc, sl st into the 3rd ch-3 sp of one to the last motif, turn.

Row 3: (Ch 3, sl st into the next ch-1 sp) 16 times.

Fasten off.

Strip 2

Motif 1

Ch 8, join to make a ring with sl st into the first ch.

Row 1: Ch 3 (count as dc), 19 dc in ring, turn. (20 dc)

Row 2: Ch 4, (dc in next dc, ch 1) 18 times, dc in last dc, turn. (20 dc)

Row 3: (Ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times, ch 1, sl st into the 3rd ch-3 sp on Motif 2 of Strip 1 (closest to Motif 1 of Strip 1), ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, sl st into the 2nd ch-3 sp on Motif 2 of Strip 1 (closest to Motif 1 of Strip 1), ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, sl st into the first ch-3 sp on Motif 2 of Strip 1 (closest to Motif 1 of Strip 1), ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp, (ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp) 13 times.

Work same as Motif 2 of Strip 1.

Motif 3

Ch 5, sl st into the top of first dc of row 1 of previous motif, ch 3, sl st into the 2nd closest ch-3 sp of one to the last motif made.

Row 1: Work 12 dc in ch-5 sp, turn.

Row 2: Ch 4 (count as dc, ch 1), (dc in next dc, ch 1) 11 times, dc in last dc, sl st into next ch-3 sp on row 3 of one to the last motif, turn.

Row 3: Ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp, (ch 1, sl st into the ch-3 sp of the closest Motif of Strip 1, ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times, ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp, (ch 1, sl st into the ch-3 sp of the next motif of Strip 1, ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times, (ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp) 4 times, turn.

Rep Motifs 2-3 until all motifs are joined.

Rep Last Motif of Strip 1.

    I have made strip 1 but I can’t seem to get strip 2 started to be attached. How is it done?

    As a designer, I love charts/diagrams. However, creating them needs special skills or software to create the chart. I do not have those skills and haven’t been able to find a good software to create a good crochet chart.

  • Could you start doing visual diagrams on your motifs? I have seen this one online and it cuts down on a ton of instruction when you are in a hurry. Thank you.
