Marigold Blanket

These colors are the quintessential hues of autumn as well as those of beautiful marigold blooms. Work up this textured masterpiece to add some seasonal charm to your living room or as a gift for a loved one.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: 42” / [107 cm] x 54” / [138 cm] after blocking

Gauge: 4 pattern reps and 4 rows = 4” [10 cm] in Larksfoot patt

Materials

Yarn: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice (100% Acrylic; 170 yards [156meters]/100 grams): 123Beige (A), 2 balls; 158Mustard(B), 2 balls;130Honey (C), 2 balls; 134Terracotta (D), 2 balls; 133Brick (E), 2 balls

Hook: US size J/10 (6.0 mm)

Notions: Removable markers; tapestry needle

Special Stitches

Long Double Crochet

Yo, insert hook in indicated st 2 rows below, pull up long lp on hook, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) twice.

Stripe Pattern

With A, work 2 rows.

With B, work2 rows.

With C, work 2 rows.

With D, work 2 rows.

With E, work 2 rows.

Pattern

With A,ch 122,sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn –121 sts.

Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), sk first sc, *dc in next 3 sts, ch 1, sk next st; rep from * to last 4 sts, dc in next 4 sts, turn. Updated 9/17/2020

Row 2: Ch 3, *dc in next 3 sts, ch 1, sk next st; rep from * to last 4 sts, dc in each of the next 4 sts, turn.

Change to B.

Row 3: Ch 3, dc in next st, sk next st, ch 1, *dc in next st, long dc in gap below, dc in next st, sk next st, ch 1; rep from * to last 2 sts, dc in last 2 sts, turn.

Row 4: Ch 3, dc in next st, *sk next st, ch 1, dc in next 3 sts; rep from * to last 2 sts, dc in last 2 sts, turn.

Change to C.

Row 5:Ch 3, dc in next st, sk next st, ch 1, *dc in next st, long dc in gap below, dc in next st, sk next st, ch 1; rep from * to last 3 sts, sk next st, dc in last 2 sts, turn.

Row 6: Ch 3, dc in next st, sk next st, ch 1, *dc in next 3 sts, sk next st, ch 1, * rep from * to * to last 3 sts, sk next st, dc in last 2 sts

Change to D.

Rep Rows 3-4.

Change to E.

Rep Rows 5-6.

Cont in Stripe Pattern, rep Rows 3-6 until piece measapprox. 54″ / [138 cm].

Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in all ends.

    Hi Nicole, could you tell me what ply the wool in the pattern would equal eg 8 ply or 10 ply. I am in Australia and cannot buy the Lion brand yarn. Thank you

    Sorry! I had to go back and take a good look at the other blanket to realize that was the pattern for the Marigold Blanket. Sometimes I’m kinda’ dingy.
