Finishing

Steam bag to help relax the fabric.

Tassels (make 2)

Wrap C around 4” piece of cardboard. Cut a 12” piece of C and run through the top of one side of the wrapped yarn, and tie the 12” piece in a knot. Cut yarn at the other end to free the tassel from the cardboard. Cut a second 12” piece of C. Wrap it around the top of the tassel several times about 1” below the top of the tassel. Hide the ends of this piece in the center of the tassel. With the first 12” piece of C, tie to the lower corner of the bag. Trim tassels.

Strap

Cut a 9-yard piece of yarn or 6 times the desired finished length of tie. Fold piece of yarn into thirds such that it is 3 yards long now. Knot one end and place around a sturdy chair or table leg. Twist the opposite end until it is very twisty. Allow the cord to twist back on itself. Tie a knot in each end. Sew each end of Strap inside the bag.

Lining

Cut 2 pieces of fabric, 7” wide x 10.75” tall; this includes 0.5” on each side for seam allowance. With RS together, sew top of each piece of fabric to zipper tape. With WS together, sew side and bottom of bag pieces tog, enclosing ends of zipper tape in this seam.

Place WS of Lining into bag. Invisibly whipstitch top of Lining to Rnd 1 of Bag.

Anyone have any tips for crocheting while carrying yarn under the stitches? I’ve made a little bag with this technique and can’t keep the tension on the carry yarn the same. It pulls in and flares out when I don’t want it to.

Try using a smaller hook to tighten your tension and make sure you pull the carried yarn a little to keep it flat across the row.
