Isabella Cowl

Reminiscent of dense flower fields, the Isabella Cowl is made up of dimensional flower motifs that seem to pop right out of the design. Capture the beauty of a freshly bloomed flower bed with this comfy-chic design.

Gauge: Rnds 1-3 of Motif B = 3.75” / [9 cm] in pattern.

Materials

Yarn: Premier Deborah Norville Everyday (100% Acrylic; 203 yards, [186 meters]/113 grams): 33 Violet (MC, 2 balls); 23 Mist (CCA, 1 ball); 02 Cream (CCB, 1 ball)

Hook: US size I/9 (5.5 mm)

Notions: Tapestry needle.

Pattern Notes

All rounds are worked on the right side without turning.

Ch 3 at the beginning of the round counts as first dc.

Pattern

Motif A (make 24)

Rnd 1: With CCB, make an adjustable slip ring, work 8 sc in ring, join with sl st in first sc. (8 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 5, sk next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * twice more, ch 5, join with sl st in first sc.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 5, sc in ch-5 sp, ch 5, sc in next sc; rep from * around, ending with ch 5. (8 ch-5 loops, 8 sc).

Rnd 4: With CCA, join with sc in any ch-5 sp of Rnd 2 before the sc of Rnd 3, (hdc, dc) in same sp, ch 4, working behind the ch-5 loop and on the other side of the sc, *(dc, hdc, sc) in same ch-5 sp, ch 4, ch 1, (sc, hdc, dc) in next ch-5 sp; rep from * around, ch 1, join with sl st in first sc. (8 dc, 8 hdc, 8 sc, 4 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-4 sps)

Fasten off.  Set aside.

Motif B (make 24)

Rnd 1: With MC, make an adjustable slip ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in ring, (ch 3, 3 dc in ring) 3 times, ch 3, join with sl st in first dc. (12 dc, 4 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, *(dc, ch 2, dc) in ch-3 corner**, dc in next 3 dc; rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join with sl st in first dc. (20 dc, 4 ch-2 sps)

Note: When working Rnd 3, hold Motif A in front while working Motif B. Only work through both A and B at the same time when indicated in the ch-1 side spaces and in the corner sps of Rnd 4 of Motif A.

Rnd 3: On motif B, continuing with MC, ch 3, *dc through both motif in the ch-1 sp of Motif A and the next dc of Motif B, dc in the next 2 dc of Motif B, in corner, (2 dc in Motif B, ch 1, tr through both motif corners, ch 1, 2 dc in motif B corner only), dc in next 2 dc of Motif B; rep from * around, dc in each of last two dc, join with sl st in first dc. (4 tr, 8 ch-1 sps, 36 dc)

Fasten off.

Finishing

Assembly

With RS facing each other, with MC, working through the outer loops only, sl st through 2 motifs at one time. Assemble in 8 rows of 3 motifs each and connect to make a tube, matching row 1 of motifs to the final row 8 of motifs.

Border

Edging

Rnd 1: With RS facing, join MC with dc in any st on long side, dc in each st around. (104 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 4, sk next 3 sts; rep from * around, join with sl st in first sc. (26 ch-4 loops)

Fasten off.

Rep Edging Rnds 1-2 for opposite side.

Weave in ends.
