Sunny Sunflower Door Decor

Hook: US size G/6 (4.0 mm)

Notions: Two 9.5” Darice PT#33027 plastic canvas circles, 1 pkg Darice # 1106-01 Glass E Beads (6/0 size #22 gold), large eye tapestry needle, beading needle, chenille stem any color

Special Stitches

Double Treble (dtr): [Yo] 3 times, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull up lp, [yo, pull through 2 lps] 4 times.

Rnd 21: Dc in each st around, increasing 12 sts evenly spaced, join to top of first dc. (90 dc)

Fasten off.

Rnd 22: Working in both lps of each st, rep Rnd 19. (30 lps)

Rnd 23: Rep Rnd 17. (15 petals)

Fasten off.

Finishing

Assembly

  1. Unravel a 1-yard length of C2 into 3 strands. Unravel each strand into 2 plies. Thread 1 ply through beading needle and knot opposite end. Insert needle from WS to RS through C2 area of sunflower, slide on 1 bead, insert needle from RS to WS. Rep in same manner to randomly sew beads where desired to C2 center.
  2. Stack plastic canvas circles together matching holes. Insert one end of chenille stem through both circles in any hole of Rnd 17 and opposite end of stem through hole directly below it in Rnd 20, pull stem ends carefully until center of chenille stem is flush with RS of plastic canvas circles.
  3. Using approx. 25 strands of raffia, form a 14” wide bow and place center of bow between chenille stem ends on WS of plastic canvas circles. Twist chenille stem ends tightly to secure center of bow to plastic canvas. Twist remaining length of stem ends together to form hanging lp. Adjust raffia lps and trim length of bow ends as desired.
  4. Place sunflower on flat surface with WS facing. Center RS of plastic canvas circles on sunflower. Separate 1 strand gold into 3 plies and use 1 ply and large eye tapestry needle to whipstitch back loops of skipped sts of rnd 19 to outer edge of plastic canvas circles.

Weave in any rem ends.
