Arms

With smaller hook and CC2, ch 10.

Being careful not to twist ch, sl st to first ch to make a ring. Work following rnds into the sts of the ring, not into the ring itself.

Rnds 1-17: Sc in each st. (10 sc)

You should have a long tube now. Flatten the tube and work the next sts flat, going through both the bottom and top st of the tube at once. You should have two parallel lines of 5 sts ready to work in front of you. These will form the hand.

Row 1: Sc in next 5 sts, ch 3, turn.

Row 2: Dc in first st, ch 2, sl in the same st you just dc into, ch 2, dc in next 4 sts, dc a second time in st you just dc into, ch 1, turn. (5 dc in the row and 1 dc standing alone to form the thumb)

Row 3: Sk first 2 sts, 5 hdc in next st, sk next 2 sts, sl st in last st of the row before the thumb. This should make the end of the hand look like a mitten top. Cut yarn and tie off.

Make a second arm in the same way.

Scarf

With larger hook and CC3, ch 9.

Row 1: Sk first ch, sc blo in next 8 ch, ch 1, turn.

Rows 2-40: Sc blo in each st, ch 1, turn.

Cut yarn, tie off.

Hat

With CC4 and smaller hook, make an adjustable loop.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 9 dc in loop, pull loop tight, sl st to 3rd ch to join. (10 dc in loop)

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same sp, 2 dc in next 9 sts, sl st to 3rd ch to join rnd. (20 dc)

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * 8 more times, sl st to 3rd ch to join rnd. (40 dc)

Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * 8 more times, sl st to 3rd ch to join rnd. (50 dc)

Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in each st, sl st to the 3rd ch to join rnd.

Rnds 7-13: Rep Rnd 6

Rnds 14-15: Ch 1, sc in each st, sl st to ch in the beg of rnd to join.

Cut yarn, tie off.

Finishing

Cut a length of MC about 20” and thread onto yarn needle, and find the narrowest part of the neck. Use the yarn needle to weave in and out of every other stitch around the neck. Pull tight and tie. Go around the neck a second time if it feels necessary.

Lightly stuff nose and sew onto Snowman’s face in the middle of a cable, around Rnds 32-34.

Stuff Arms firmly. Roll the finished arms between your palms to minimize the amount of stuffing showing through the stitches, and firm up the stuffing. Sew the Arms to the sides of the body, in lines with the two cables that run on either side of the Nose. Attach them around Rnd 23.

Sew on the button for Eyes. You want the Eyes to be just above the Nose, with about 2 to 3 stitches between each side of the Nose and each eye. The Eyes should be just barely above the nose.

Tie Scarf around the neck with the loose ends slightly off-center.

Add a pompom to the Hat if desired. Position on Snowman’s head.
