Tilted Lace Baby Blanket

Nothing is more fitting for a delicate newborn than a delicate, lacy baby blanket. Made using size 5 crochet thread, the Tilted Lace Baby Blanket uses cluster and puff stitches and a mix of baby blues and pinks to create a gentle, textured blanket.

Skill Level:  Intermediate

Size: approximately 42” × 59” (107cm x 150cm)

Gauge: Approximately 23 dc and 8 rows in pattern = 4”/10cm with swatch very relaxed. This yarn is very stretchy, so don’t pull on swatch to measure gauge.

Materials

Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Crochet Thread Size 5 (100% acrylic; 371 yards [339 meters]/85 grams): #31425 Gentle Pink (A, 2 balls), #33206 Touch (B, 2 balls), #31128 Sky Blue (C, 2 balls), #33202 Adrift (D, 2 balls), #31201 Still Water (E, 2 balls)
Hook: US size D/3 (3.25 mm) hook

Special Stitches

Foundation Double Crochet (fdc): Beginning with a slip knot, ch 4 (counts as first ch and first dc). YO, insert hook in 4th ch from hook, *YO and draw up a loop (3 loops on hook), YO and draw through one loop on hook (creates the base chain), [YO and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice (creates the dc)*. For the following stitches, YO, insert hook in the ch at the base of the previous st, under 2 strands (leaving the 2 strands at the chain edge), repeat from * to * for length as directed.
3 treble cluster (3tr-cl): [yo twice, insert hook in indicated st/sp, yo, pull up a loop {yo, pull through 2 loops on hook} twice] 3 times, yo, pull through 4 loops on hook.
Capped puff (c-puff): [yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull up loop] 5 times in indicated st/sp (11 loops on hook), yo, pull through 10 loops on hook, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook.

Could anyone help… I have begun to make this blanket – but the ends of the 2nd and 3rd row do not end where the pattern states. This is despite taking out the stitches 2x and recounting and checking I had done everything correctly. I am an experienced crocheter and rarely have this problem – Has anyone else come across this in this pattern and do you have a suggestion!
