Fleur de Lis Afghan

Featuring a gorgeous openwork stitch pattern bordered by strips of knitted blocks, this Fleur de Lis Afghan is the perfect rosy hue to cheer on summer. Comprised of fan and picot stitches, this afghan is easy to make for the casual crocheter.

Skill Level: Easy

Size:  42” x 52”                                            

Gauge: 4 rows = 3”; 6 dcs, ch 2, fan, ch 2 = 4 ¼”

Materials

Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver (100% acrylic; 160 yards [146 meters]/85 grams): #0373 Petal Pink (4 skeins)
Hooks:  US size H/8 (5.0 mm) hook, US size I/9 (5.5 mm) hook or size needed for gauge 

Special Stitches

Fan: (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in stitch or space as indicated.
Picot: (sc, ch 3, sc) in stitch or space as indicated. 

Pattern Notes

Afghan is crocheted in multiples of 16 plus 9. 

Pattern

Ch 164.
Row 1 (RS):  Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next 4 chs, *ch 2, skip 5 chs, Fan in next ch, ch 2, skip 5 chs, dc in each of next 5 chs, repeat from * across, dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in each of next 5 dcs, *ch 2, skip next ch 2 space, picot in each of next 3 ch 1 spaces, ch 2, skip next ch 2 space, dc in each of next 5 dcs, repeat from * across to turning ch, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in each of next 5 dcs, *ch 2, skip next 2 spaces, Fan in next ch 3 loop, ch 2, skip next 2 spaces, dc in each of next 5 dcs, repeat from * across to turning ch, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn.
Continue pattern repeating Rows 2 and 3 for a total 71 rows, fasten off and do not turn. 

Edging

With right side facing work along top edge picot in first right corner dc, *picot in next dc, skip 1 dc, picot in next dc, skip 1 dc, picot in next dc, skip 1 dc, picot in next dc, skip ch 2 space, picot in each of next 3 ch 1 spaces, skip ch 2 space, repeat from * across ending picot in last corner dc.
Work along side edge picot in each dc space.
Work along bottom edge picot in first ch, *picot in next ch, skip 1 ch, picot in next ch, skip 1 ch, picot in next ch, picot in ch next space, ch below fan and next space, repeat form * across ending picot in last ch.
Work along side edge picot in each dc space, join to beginning sc and fasten off. yarn ball
