Spring Has Sprung Fingerless Gloves

These fingerless gloves are a delightful complement to any spring wardrobe. Each round uses just one color, making this an easy “colorwork” project. It’s great as a stash buster, too!

Skill Level: Intermediate 

Size: 7” circumference x 8.5” long (17.75 cm circumference x 21.5 cm long)

Gauge:  15 sc x 16 rows = 4 in (10cm)

Materials

Yarn: Knit Picks Swish DK (100% superwash merino wool; 123 yards [112 meters]/50 grams): Marble Heather (MC, 1 ball), Green Tea Heather (CC1, 1 ball), Cornmeal (CC2, 1 ball)
Hook: US size H/8 (5.0 mm) hook
Notions: Tapestry needle

Special Stitches

V-st: [Dc, ch1, dc] in same st.
Bobble: Yo, insert hook in stitch, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through two loops, yo, insert hook, yo and draw up a loop, yo and pull through two loops, yo, insert hook, yo and draw up a loop, yo and pull through two loops, yo and pull through all 4 loops.

This pattern is worked in the round from the cuff up.

Pattern

Fingerless Mittens (Make 2)

With MC, ch 24, join to work in round, being careful not to twist.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in first ch and each ch around, join with sl st in first sc. (24 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in first st and each st around, join with sl st in first sc. (24 sc)
Change to CC1.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, V-st in first st, skip next two sts, *V-st in next st, skip next two sts repeat from * around, join with sl st in first V-st. (8 V-st)
Change to CC2.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, *bobble st in middle of V-st, ch 2, repeat from * around, join with sl st in first bobble st. (8 bobble st and 16 ch)
Change to MC.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, (sc in bobble st, 2 sc in ch 2 sp) four times, sc in bobble st, 5 sc in ch 5 sp, (sc in bobble st, 2 sc in ch 2 sp) four times, join with sl st in first sc. (24 sc)
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in first st and each st around, join with sl st in first sc. (24 sc)
Change to CC1.
Rnds 7-10: Repeat rnds 3-6.
Rnd 11: Ch 1, V-st in first st, (skip next two sts, V-st in next st) twice, skip next st, V-st in next two sts, skip next st, (V-st in next st, skip next two sts) four times, join with sl st in first V-st. (9 V-st)
Change to CC2.
Rnd 12: Ch 1, *bobble st in middle of V-st, ch 2, repeat from * around, join with sl st in first bobble st. (9 bobble st and 18 ch)
Change to MC.
Rnd 13: Ch 1, sc in first st, 2 sc in ch 2 sp, *sc in next st, 2 sc in ch2 sp, repeat from * around, join with sl st in first sc. (27 sc)
Rnd 14: Ch 1, sc in first st and each st around, join with sl st in first sc. (27 sc)
Change to CC1.
Rnd 15: Ch 1, V-st in first st, skip next two sts, *V-st in next st, skip next two sts, repeat from * around, join with sl st in first V-st. (9 V-st)
Change to CC2.
Rnd 16: Ch 1, (bobble st in middle of V-st, ch 2) four times, bobble st in middle of next V-st, ch 5, (bobble st in middle of V-st, ch 2) four times, join with sl st in first bobble st. (9 bobble st and 21 ch)
Change to MC.
Rnd 17: Ch 1, (sc in bobble st, 2 sc in ch 2 sp) four times, sc in bobble st, 5 sc in ch 5 sp, (sc in bobble st, 2 sc in ch 2 sp) four times, join with sl st in first sc. (30 sc)
Rnd 18: Ch 1, sc in first st and each st around, join with sl st in first sc. (30 sc)
Change to CC1.
Rnd 19: Ch 1, V-st in first st, skip next two sts, *V-st in next st, skip next two sts repeat from * around, join with sl st in first V-st. (10 V-st)
Change to CC2.
Rnd 20: Ch 1, *bobble st in middle of V-st, ch 2, repeat from * around, join with sl st in first bobble st. (10 bobble st and 20 ch)
Change to MC.
Rnd 21: Ch 1, (sc in bobble st, 2 sc in ch 2 sp) four times, sc in bobble st, 5 sc in ch 5 sp, (sc in bobble st, 2 sc in ch 2 sp) four times, join with sl st in first sc. (30 sc)
Rnd 22: Ch 1, sc in first st and each st around, join with sl st in first sc. (30 sc)
Fasten off.
