  • Would the larger size be appropriate for a one-year-old (or almost one-year-old)? I have a friend who’s having a baby in November, but I would love to make this and give it to her for her baby to wear next year.

I know toddlers don’t really wear onesies, but since this is a costume, it wouldn’t be so bad, and it’s probably the cutest little costume I’ve ever seen for crochet. My question, then, is could I use larger yarn (like a size 5) and a K hook, follow the pattern for the larger size, and have it fit a two-year-old who wears a T-5? He’s also over 3 feet tall (yeah, big boy, lol; his dad was 6’5″ and his mom is 6′).

I am at the Sleeve section and I do not understand? Not sure what you mean by tac the armhole edge and how do crochet the sleeve. Is it in the round? If not it doesn’t say to sew up a seam? It doesn’t say to join anywhere. How do I crochet around the top of the arm hole when the shoulder is not connected? Please advise. Such a cute outfit.

This is adorable and your work is amazing. I read all the comments and see that there are some questions on some areas. I hope to be able to understand it perfectly. May I ask what other yarn we can use? I live in California, United States and cannot find the Malabrigo Yarn Merino Worsted Blue Graphite yarn anywhere. I would greatly appreciate help with this. Also do you have a pattern for a smaller baby? Thank you for your time in putting this pattern together for all of us. I don’t think some people realize how much time goes into writing up a pattern.

I am having difficulty understanding the ribbing and neckline of the Baby Bat set. Am I supposed to do the ribbing on both the front and back after the armhole shaping? Does the ribbing also go along the neck edge from shoulder to shoulder on both the back and front? The picture shows a lifted design along the back shoulders as if they are a part of the bat’s wing. How do I achieve that look? Thank you for your assistance.

  • Hi,
I’m a little confused about the front. The pattern says work same as back to ribbing. I have got up to row 20 of the arm hole shaping, just before the start of the ribbing (so there is one side of the breast/chest section which attacheds to the top, now done.) Do I continue with the ribbing section for the back, so the other side will then be done? I have tried to read on for the front neckline, but don’t quite see how the second breast/chest section would be completed. Please can you help me?

Can someone help me with row 15 on FRONT. For some reason i am not understanding this. Thank you in advance!

    Reply
    • Once you have completed Row 14 and turned, Row 15 means you would repeat Row 14. So chain 6, single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each stitch after. Depending on which size you are making you should have 32 or 36 stitches.

  • I to had trouble with the rjbbing so I just used sc & it looks ok, for the neckline & sleeves I did a picot edging as I didn’t understand that either. Also in a couple of places the pattern says “using photos as a guide” except I can’t find the picture instructions
