Yarn: Scheepjes (100% Mercerized Cotton; 137 yards [125 meters] / 1.75 ounces [50 grams]): 256 Cornelia Rose (MC 3 balls), 130 Old Lace (CC1 1 ball), Jet Black 110 (CC2 1 Ball)

Hook: US size B/1 2.25 mm

Abbreviations

Rsc – Reverse Single Crochet

Special Stitches

Reverse Single Crochet (rsc): insert your hook into the next stitch to the right (from front to back), yarn over, pull up a loop, then yarn over again and pull through the two loops on your hook; essentially working a single crochet stitch backwards across the row, keeping your hook pointed in the same direction throughout.

Pattern Notes

Pattern is worked from side to side.  Pattern is worked in pieces (flamingo face x2, wing x2) then assembled.

Row 2 (WS): Ch 1 (does not count as st), 2 sc in next st, sc to last st, 2 sc in last st. (32 sts)

Rows 3-20: Rep rows 1-2 nine more times.

Row 21-25: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (50 sts)

Row 26: Ch 1, dec, sc to last 2 sts, dec, turn. (48 sts)

Row 27: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Rows 28-35: Rep rows 26-27 4 more times.

Make 2
Ch 11 using MC.

Row 2 (WS): Sc in each st across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, sc 10, 2 sc in next st, turn (14 sts)

Row 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, sc to end, turn. (15 sts)

Rows 5-8: Rep rows 3-4 2 more times.

Row 9: Ch 1, Sc to last st, 2 sc in next st, turn. (22 sts)

Row 10: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, sc to end, turn. (23 sts)

Row 11: Ch 1, sc to last st, 2 sc in last st, turn. (24 sts)

Row 12: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, 22 sc, dec, turn.

Row 13: Ch 1, dec, 22 sc, 2 sc in last st, turn.

Row 14: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, 20 sc, dec, dec, turn. (25 sts)

Row 15: Dec, 8 sc, dec, sl st.

Fasten off.

Sew feather lines on to wing, sew first line on row 6, insert needle at the edge of the row and sew to 7 sts in, insert needle in second line 4 rows above and sew back to edge. Sew wings to the face as pictured.

Eye

Make a loop by crossing one end of the yarn over the other, insert one end of the yarn into the loop, continue to wrap the yarn end around and into the loop 8 more times, pull both ends of the yarn to tighten the knot. Sew the knot into position using a picture as reference.

Band

Ch 10

Row 1: Sc in each st across, turn. (9 sts)

Row 2-275: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Fasten off.

Finishing

With wrong side facing, place a flamingo face and the band together and sc in st around changing colors as necessary to match the face, the rsc in each sc around, fasten off.

Repeat for other face, this time stuffing as you go when you are completing the rsc round.

Fasten off and sew in end.
