Floral Mesh Tote

Gauge: 18 sts and 14 rows in HDC = 4” [10 cm] 

Materials

Yarn: Peaches n’ Crème Solids (100% cotton; 120 yards [110 meters]/70 grams): #1740 Hot Pink (A, 1 ball), #1725 Blueberry (B, 1 ball), #1612 Sunshine (C, 1 ball); Lily Sugar n’ Cream Solids (100% cotton; 120 yards [110 meters]/70 grams): #1712 Hot Green (D, 1 ball), #18114 Indigo (E, 1 ball), #01699 Tangerine (F, 1 ball)
Hook: US size H/8 (5.0 mm) hook
Notions: Circular handles, bamboo or similar, tapestry needle

Pattern Notes

The base and top edge of the bag are worked in hdc. The striped mesh uses chain and slip stitches.
This pattern is worked in the round from the bottom up. 

Pattern

Bag Base

Ch 62.
Rnd 1: 4 hdc into 3rd ch from hook, then hdc in each st to end. 4 hdc into end st, hdc along other edge of foundation ch. (130 sts)
Rnd 2: 2 hdc in each of the 3 end sts, then hdc in each stitch to end of one edge. 3 hdc into 3 sts at the other end, then hdc back to start, joining to first hdc with a sl st. (136 sts)
Rnd 3: Work into 5 end sts as follows: 2 hdc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc. Hdc in each st to end, work other corner in the same way, hdc each st back to beginning, join to first hdc with a sl st. (142 sts)
Rnds 4-6: Hdc in every st, join to first hdc with a sl st.
Rnd 7: *3ch, skip 3 hdc, sl st the 4th. Repeat from *. (36 loops)
Rnd 8: Sl st into first loop, ch 7, sl st around next lp, ch 7, sl st around next loop, to end.
Rnds 9-16: As rnd 8.
Break off yarn leaving a long end for darning in. Do this for each color change.
Change to E.
Rnds 17-19: As rnd 8.
Change to D.
Rnds 20-22: As rnd 8.
Change to A.
Rnds 23-25: As rnd 8.
Change to B.
Rnds 26-28: As rnd 8.
Change to C.
Rnds 29-31: As rnd 8.
Change to A.
Rnds 32-35: As rnd 8.
Change to D.
Rnds 36-39: As rnd 8.
Rnd 40: *Ch 3, sl st around loop. Repeat from * to end.
Rnd 41: *3hdc into loop, 1 hdc into sl st, repeat from * to end.
Rnds 42-42: Hdc into every st.
Darn in all ends.

Pink Flower

Rnd 1: Using C make a slip ring and into it work 2 ch, then 7 sc, join to 2 ch with a sl st and pull tight. (8 sts)
Rnd 2: 2 ch m 1 sc into same st, then 2 sc into each st. (16 sts)
Rnd 3: Change to E. 2 ch, 1 sc into same st. *1sc into next st, 2 sc into foll st. Repeat from * join with a sl st to first 2 ch. (24 sts)
Rnd 4: Join in A. Rep rnd 3. (32 sts)
Rnd 5: Ch 6, skip 3 sc, 1 sc into next st. *Ch 5, skip 3 sc, 1 sc  in next st. Rep from *. Join to second of initial 6 ch with a sl st. (8 loops)
Rnd 6: Into each loop, 1 sc, 3 dc, 1 sc. (40 sts)
Rnd 7: Into each set of 5 sts in each loop: 1 sc, 2 sc, 2 sc, 2 sc, 1 sc. (64 sts)
Leave a long end for attaching flower to bag, encasing the bamboo handle.

Blue Flower

With F make a slip ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1 into ring, 7 sc, join with a sl st.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc into same st ,2 sc in each st to end, join with a sl st.
Rnd 3: Change to B. Ch 1, sc into same st. *1 sc, 2 sc in next st. Rep from * to end, join with a sl st. (24 sts)
Rnd 4: *3 ch, 2 dc into next st, 3 ch, sl st to next st. Rep from * 7 times. (8 petals)
Leave a long end, and use to sew flower to bag encasing bamboo handle.

Yellow Flower

With D, make a slip ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, then 22 dc into ring, join to top of 2 ch with a sl st.
Rnd 2: Dc into each st. (24 sts)
Change to C.
Rnd 3: *Ch 5, skip 3, sl st in next st. Rep from * five times. (Six loops)
Rnd 4: Into each loop: 1 sc, 3 dc, 1 sc.
Rnd 5: Into each 5st petal: *1 sc, 2 sc, 2 sc, 2 sc, 1 sc, to end.
Leave a long end and use to attach flower to bag. yarn ball
