These stockings are perfect for decorating the home during the holidays. Hang them on the mantle or in your children’s room for an extra dose of whimsy.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: 12.5 / [32 cm] x 4.75 / [12 cm]

Gauge: 12 sts and 4 rows = 4” [10 cm]

Materials

Yarn: Katia Bambi (100% Polyester; 131 yards [120]/100 grams): 325 Pearl Light Grey (A, 1 skein), 314 Grey (B, 1 skein), 305 Off White (C, 1 skein), 320 Mustard (D, 1 skein), 301 Light Pink (E, 1 skein), 300 White (F, 1 skein), 315 Black (G, 1 skein)

Hook: (US size 10.75 (7 mm)

Notions: Tapestry needle

Special Stitches

Dec – Work 2 sts together

Inc – work 2 sts in st indicated.

Stocking Pattern (make 4: one in each in A, B, C, and D.

Leg

Using chosen color, ch 23.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (22 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in each sc across, sl st in first dc to make a circle.

Rep Rnd 2 until Leg meas 9” in from beg.

Heel and Foot

Row 1: Sk first 7 sts, ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 7 dc, turn. (8 sts)

Row 2: Dec, sc in next 4 sts, dec, turn. (6 sts)

Row 3: Sc in all 6 sts, turn.

Row 4: Dec, sc in next 2 sts, dec, turn. (4 sts)

Row 5: Sc in all 4 sts, turn.

Row 6: Inc, sc in next 2 sts, inc, turn. (6 sts)

Row 7: Sc in all 6 sts, turn.

Using chosen color, join with sl st to any st, sc evenly around edge.

Hook (use E for Rabbit and Sheep, F for Fox, and B for Raccoon)

Using chosen color, ch 15, sl st in first ch to make a circle.

Rnd 1: Ch 2 (count as first st), hdc in all 14 sts. (15 sts)

Rabbit (use sock made with A)

Belly

With C, make a magic ring.

Rnd 1: Work 10 hdc in magic ring. (10 sts)

Rnd 2: Inc 10 times. (20 sts)

Rnd 3: (Inc in next st, hdc in next st) 10 times. (30 sts)

Fasten off.

Part Upper Face

With C, ch 8.

Note: Work around both sides of the foundation ch.

Rnd 1: Sk first 3 sts (sk ch count as dc), dc in next 4 sts, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in last st. (14 sts)

Fasten off.

Part Lower Face

With C, make magic ring.

Rnd 1: Work 8 hdc in magic ring. (8 sts)

Rnd 2: Inc 8 times. (16 sts)

Rnd 3: Hdc in all 16 sts.

Fasten off.

Eyes (make 2)

With G, make a magic ring.

Rnd 1: Work 4 sc in magic ring. (4 sts)

Fasten off.

Ear (make 2)

With E, ch 8.

Note: Work around both sides of the foundation ch.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts, 1 sc in last st. (16 sts)

Rnd 2: With A, ch 1, sc in all 16 sts.

Fasten off.

Finishing

Sew Hook to Sock at the top.

Sew Ears just below the edge.

Embroider nose with E at the bottom of the snout and a small mouth underneath using G.

On the sides of the mouth, make 3 small black dots on the side.

Sew the top and back of the snout.

Sew Eyes and Belly.

Sheep (use sock made with C)

Belly

With C, make a magic ring.

Rnd 1: Make 10 dc in magic ring. (10 sts)

Rnd 2: Inc 10 times. (20 sts)

Rnd 3: (Inc in next st, dc in next st) 10 times. (30 sts)

Rnd 4: With E, sc in all 30 sts.

Fasten off.

Head

With C, make a magic ring.

Rnd 1: Work 10 dc in magic ring. (10 sts)

Rnd 2: Inc 10 times. (20 sts)

Rnd 3: With E, sc in all 20 sts.

Fasten off.

Ears

With E, make a magic ring.

Rnd 1: Work 6 hdc in magic ring. (6 sts)

Rnd 2: Inc 6 times. (12 sts)

Rnd 3: With C, sc in all 12 sts.

Fasten off.

Finishing

Sew Hook to Sock at the top.

Sew Ears just below the edge.

To Sheep’s Head, embroider Eyes with G, nose with E and a small mouth underneath with G.

Sew Head and Body to Sock. 

Raccoon (use sock made with A)

Part Upper Snout

With G, ch 13, turn.

Row 1: Sk first ch from hook, sc in next 3 sts, with F sc in next 6 sts, with G sc in next 3 sts, turn. (12 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, with G sc in next 3 sts, with F sc in next 6 sts, with G sc in next 3 sts, turn. (12 sts)

Rows 3-4: Ch 1, with G sc in next 4 sts, with F sc in next 4 sts, with G sc in next 4 sts, turn. (12 sts)

Row 5: Ch 1, with G dec, sc in next 2 sts, with F sc in next 4 sts, with G sc in next 2 sts, dec, turn. (10 sts)

Row 6: Ch 1, dec, with G sc in next st, with F sc in next 4 sts, with G sc in next st, dec, turn. (8 sts)

Fasten off.

Part Lower Snout

Note: Work around both sides of the foundation ch.

With F, ch 6.

Sew Hook to Sock at the top.

Sew Upper Part of Snout near the edge of Sock.

Embroider pupil inside Eye with G. On the sides, sew Eyes.

In Lower Part of Snout embroider Nose and a small mouth with G and then sew it to Sock.

Sew Tail under Raccoon’s Snout.

Fox (use sock made with D)

Ears (make 2)

With G, ch 5, turn

Row 1: Sk first ch, sc in next 4 chs, turn. (4 sts)

Row 2: Dec, sc in each sc to end, turn. (3 sts)

Row 3: Dec, sc in last st, turn. (2 sts)

Row 4 Dec. (1 st)

Fasten off.

Border

Using D, join with sl st to any st, sc evenly around edge.

Fasten off. 

Snout

With D, ch 10, turn.

Row 1: Sk first ch, sc in next 9 chs, turn. (9 sts)

Row 2: Dec, sc in each sc to end, turn. (8 sts)

Rep Row 2 until only 4 sts remain.

In Yarn G

Next Row: With G, dec twice, turn. (2 sts)

Last Row: Dec. (1 st)

Fasten off.

Border

Using F, join with sl st to any st, sc only on the two sides of Fox’s muzzle.

Fasten off. 

Tail

Work Tail like that of the Raccoon. Use F for the tail and D for the edge.

Finishing

Sew Hook to Sock at the top.

Embroider Eyes to face of Fox, sew it to Sock.

Sew Ears in Upper Part near edge of Sock.

Sew Tail to Sock.
