UnbeLEAFable Lilac Shawl

UnbeLEAFable Lilac Shawl

A spring wardrobe is not complete without an airy shawl to add a light layer of warmth to a sundress or to dress up a laid-back tee. This shawl is worked flat to create a leaf-like design with beautiful open spaces.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: Adult size

Gauge: 20 sts and 8 rows = 4” [10 cm] in double crochet

Materials

Yarn:

Fine weight yarn Ice Yarns Summer Mercerized (30% Viscose, 70% Mercerized Cotton; 382 yards [350 meters]/100 grams): fnt2-16810 Lilac, 3 skeins

Hook: US size E/4 (3.5 mm)

Notions: Tapestry needle

Abbreviations

Ch = Chain

St(s) = Stitch(es)

Sl st = Slip stitch

Sc = Single crochet

Dc = Double crochet

Special Stitches

V stitch – (dc, ch 1, dc) in same st or sp

2dc V stitch – (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same st or sp

Pattern Note

The shawl is worked flat.

I used chainless starting dc for every first dc of each row instead of ch 3. Another good crochet technique to use is ch 2, then dc in same stitch (counted as first dc). In the pattern, I simply state dc into first stitch for every first dc of each row, so just choose your best technique.

    A number of crochet patterns require yarns that I have no idea where to purchase them. Do you have lists of outlets, stores, etc for yarns

      Hello, this is an older pattern and the yarn has been discontinued:

      I usually send people to yarnsub.com to look for substitutions, but this yarn doesn’t seem to be in their system. I would look for another fine weight, 30% Viscose, 70% Mercerised Cotton type yarn. Hope this helps a little bit! – Nicola, Editor
