Ayla Tassel Scarf

Ayla is a long rectangular scarf worked from one shallow point to the other. Alternate rows of crochet lace are paired with narrow tassels for a delicate aesthetic. Only one cake of Lion Brand Wrap Star is used to make this fun and feminine scarf.

Skill Level: Easy

Finished Size: 82” x 7.5”

Gauge: 4.5 clusters and 10 rows = 4” [10 cm] in pattern stitch before blocking

Light weight yarnYarn: Lion Brand Wrap Star (70% Acrylic, 30% Wool; 437 yards [400 meters]/ 100 grams): Queen (1 cake)

Hook: US Size I/9 (5.5mm)

Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle, 7” book or piece of cardboard

Cluster (clu) – 3 dc in same space

Pattern Notes

Beginning Ch 3 counts as dc.

Beginning Ch 1 does not count as a stitch.

Pattern

Start by making two 7” tassels from either end of the yarn cake. Set aside.

Scarf

Row 1: In MR, ch 3, dc 3.

Row 2: Turn, ch 1, sc in first dc, ch 3, sk 2 dc, sc in 3rd ch of tch.

Row 3: Turn, ch 3, dc in first sc, ch 1, sc in ch-3 sp, ch 1, 2 dc in last sc.

Row 4: Turn, ch 1, sc in first dc, (ch 3, sc in next dc) 2 times, ch 3, sc in 3rd ch of tch.

Row 5: Turn, ch 3, dc in first sc, sc in ch-3 sp, (clu in the next sc, sc in the next ch-3 sp) across to last sc, 2 dc in last sc.

Row 6: Turn, ch 1, sc in first dc, ch 3, sc in next dc, ch 3, (sc in 2nd dc of next clu, ch 3) across to last 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sc in 3rd ch of tch.

Rows 7-10: Rep Rows 5-6.

Row 11: Turn, ch 3, dc in first sc, sc in ch-3 sp, (clu in next sc, sc in the next ch-3 sp) across to last sc, 2 dc in last sc.

Row 12: Turn, ch 1, sc in first dc, ch 3, sk 1 dc, (sc in 2nd dc of next clu, ch 3) across to last 2 dc, sk 1 dc, sc in ch 3 of tch.

Rows 13-138: Rep Rows 11-12.

Rows 139: Rep Row 11.

Row 140: Turn, ch 1, sc2tog over first dc and 2nd dc of next clu, ch 3, (sc in 2nd dc of next clu, ch 3) 6 times, sc2tog over 2nd dc of next clu and 3rd ch of tch.

Row 141: Rep Row 11.

Finishing

Cut yarn. Block lightly.

Weave in all ends.

Attach tassels to like color.
