Into the Blue Crochet Scarf Pattern

 

Dive into your stash of blue yarn and crochet this easy crochet scarf pattern! Best of all, this pattern is written for both left and right handed crocheters with stitch diagrams for both. This pattern is a lot of fun to work up and it’s a great pattern to have on hand for a quick gift too.

Supplies:

  1. Cascade Ultra Pima, #3, 100 g/220 yards 100% Pima Cotton, Colorway: #3736/Ice (1 skein)
  2. Hook – F/3.75
  3. Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends

Abbreviations:

beg – beginning

ch – chain

dc – double crochet

sc – single crochet

sp(s) – space(s)

st(s) – stitch(es)
tr – treble

Gauge:  Not important for this project

Finished Size:  53″ in length x 5″ in width

Pattern Notes:

  • Ch 4 at beginning of pattern counts as double crochet and ch 1 unless otherwise stated.
  • Ch 1 at beginning of pattern does not count as the first stitch in the pattern unless otherwise stated.

Multiples of 5 plus 3

Row 1:  Ch 28, dc in 4th ch from hook (See Pattern Notes), ch 2, *skip next 2 chs, dc in next 3 chs, ch 2, repeat from * across until last 2 chs, dc in next ch, dc in top of ch 3, turn. (16 dc, 5 ch-2 sps)

Row 2:  Ch 1, (See Pattern Notes), sc in first st, 5 dc in next ch-2 sp, *skip next st, sc in next st, 5 dc in next ch-2 sp, repeat from * across until last 2 sts, skip next st, sc in top of ch 3, turn. (6 sc, 26 dc)

Row 3:  Ch 5, (See Pattern Notes), skip next st, dc in next 3 sts, *ch 2, skip next 3 sts, dc in next 3 sts, repeat from * across until last 2 sts, skip next st, ch 1, tr in top of ch 3, turn.  (2 tr, 2 ch-1 sps, 4 ch-2 sps, 15 dc)

Row 4:  Ch 3 (See Pattern Notes), 2 dc in ch-1 sp, *skip next st, sc in next st**, 5 dc in next ch-2 sp, repeat from *across, ending last repeat at **, 2 dc in last ch-1 sp, dc in top of ch 4, turn. (26 dc, 5 sc)

Row 5:  Ch 3, dc in next st, *ch 2, skip next 3 sts, dc in next 3 sts, repeat from * across until last 5 sts, ch 2, skip next 3 sts, dc in next st, dc in top of ch 3, turn. (16 dc, 5 ch-2 sps)

Repeat Rows 2-5 until you’ve reach desired length.  Fasten off.  Weave in the ends.

  • I think the written instructions are different than the diagram; at the end of row 1 the written instructions are: “dc in top of ch 3, turn”. Where is the ch 3? This is not included in the diagram which ends with the 2 dc (in last 2 ch) and then sc to turn. Please clarify – it’s a really pretty scarf!

  • At the end of row 3, I end up with 1 tr,1 ch-1 sp, 4 ch-2 sps, 15dc, not counting the ch5 at the start of the row. What am I doing wrong?

    I’ve been trying to make this but it keeps getting narrower when I turn it. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

  • When I hit print on this pattern, it doesn’t work. It takes me to another page instead with nothing about this pattern.
