Daisy Baby Rattle

Crochet the cutest baby rattle in just a day with this crochet pattern. Perfect for little hands, this rattle doubles as nursery décor when placed in a flower pot.

Size: 10 cm

Materials

Fine weight yarnYarn: Schachenmayr Catania (100% Cotton; 136 yards [125 meters]/50 grams): #281 Orange (1 ball), #105 Natur (1 ball), #212 Khaki (1 ball)

Hook/Needles: US size 6 (2.5 mm)

Notions: stitch markers, pin needles, tapestry needle, scissors, stuffing, 17-cm diameter rattle ball

Abbreviations

invdec – invisible decrease: insert hook under flo of next 2 sts at once, yo, pull through both sts, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook to finish dec

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked in continuous spiral rounds from the bottom to top, beginning with the stem. Then we crochet the petals separately and sew them on.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mr (6)Rnd 2: (inc) x6 (12)

Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x6 (18)

Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)

Rnd 5-6: sc in each st around (24)

Rnd 7: (2 sc, invdec) x6 (18)

Rnd 8-25 (18 rounds): sc in each st around (18)

Rnd 26: (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)

Rnd 27: sc in each st around (24)
Don’t fasten off.

Stamen

Color change to Color #281 Orange

Rnd 28: sc in every BL around (24)

Rnd 29: sc in each st around (24)

Start stuffing the stem.

Rnd 30: (2 sc, invdec) x6 (18)

Rnd 31: (1 sc, invdec) x6 (12)

Add the rattle to the center of the stamen.

Rnd 32: (invdec) x6 (6)

Add some more stuffing to the stamen and around the rattle ball. Close the round and fasten off. Hide yarn end.

With Color #105 Natur

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mr (6)

Rnd 2: (inc) x6 (12)

Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x6 (18)

Rnd 4-6: sc in each st around (18)

Rnd 7: (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)

Rnd 8: sc in each st around (24)

Rnd 9: (2 sc, invdec) x6 (18)

Rnd 10: sc in each st around (18)

Rnd 11: (1 sc, invdec) x6 (12)

Rnd 12-13: sc around (12)

Close the last round with 6 stitches across, going through both sides. The end should be flat.

Finishing

Pin the petals to the edge with the color change and sew them on. Weave in any ends.
