The Shawl is worked in rows from the top to bottom. The Hood is worked in rows, then seamed along the one side to form the hood before being seamed along the top of the shawl.

Assembly

To form the hood, fold Row 1 of Hood in half with WS facing outward, then seam the ends of Row 1 together.

Seam Hood along the top of Shawl, making sure the previous seam of the hood is in line with the middle of the Shawl (Row 1).

Flip seamed hooded Shawl RS out.

Fringe

Cut strands of B 12 (14)” / [30 (36) cm] in length, to make pairs of 2 strands. Pull 1 pair of strands half-way through the first st of Row 45 (53, 61), then knot strands together (4 stranded tassel).

Make 1 tassel in every 2nd st to middle ch-1 sp, make 1 tassel in ch-1 sp, then make 1 tassel in next st, before continuing to make 1 tassel in every 2nd st until you reach the last st of Row 45 (53, 61). (115 (135, 155) tassels)

Trim fringe to meas 11 (13, 13)” / [28 (33, 33) cm].

Finishing

Block shawl to size and shape.

Weave in all ends.
