Simply Fall Hat

The Simply Fall Hat is a hat that perfectly encapsulates the fall. Worked in a harvest-themed variegated yarn, this gorgeous hat is worked in a round and features a v-stitch pattern stitch.

Hook: US size H/8 (5.0 mm) hook or size to obtain gauge

The hat is made top down in joined rounds.
The sl st at the end of each row will not count as a stitch.

Toddler

Ch 4.
Rnd 1: 10 dc in first chain, sl st to the first dc stitch to join. (10 sts)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each stitch, sl st to the first dc stitch to join (not chain 2). (20 sts)
Rnd 3: Ch 2, * dc, 2 dc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round, sl st to first stitch to join. (30 sts)
Rnd 4: Ch 2, * dc in the next 2 stitches, 2 dc in the next stitch, repeat from * to complete round, sl st to first stitch to join. (40 sts)
Rnd 5: Ch 3 (counts as the first dc), dc in the same stitch, *skip 2 stitches, 2 dc in next stitch, repeat from * to complete round, sl st to the ch 3 to join. (28 sts)
Rnds 6-8: Ch 3, dc in the center of the first 2 dc, 2 dc in between each 2 dc set, sl st to the first ch 3 to join. (28 sts)
Rnd 9: Ch 1, sc in each stitch, sl st to the ch 1 to join. (28 sts)
Rnd 10: Ch 1, *sc2, sc dec, repeat from * to complete the round, sl st to ch1 to join. (21 sts)

    Round 7 indicates a total of 48 stitches Working with 60 stitches from previous round I can only come up with 40 stitches in round 7. Next rounds indicated are 8-11 yet the next round is shown as rnd 9 then rnd 10 then rnd 11 – 12???

    How do you do round 7 to get 48 stitches instead of 40?
    Explain numbering on rnds 8-12. I like the hat and I am disappointed with pattern instructions .

    For rnd7 I can only get 42 stitches (counting the ch3 as first stitch) in the 60 stitches from rnd6. Is this a misprint or am I missing something?
