Pattern Notes

  • For a more structured brim, use wire. For a floppy brim, no wire is needed.
  • Before cutting wire to finish, check brim shape. Fabric should maintain original size, not stretch or pucker.
  • Blocking project is NOT recommended, especially if working wireless brim.
  • Striping happens after each round in a (MC, CC1, CC2) repeating pattern.
  • Preparing wire: With needle nose pliers, create small loop at end of wire. Shape wire to general round brim.
  • When starting round 19, if adding wire support, crochet around wire while working round as normal. Before slip stitching and fastening off round, shape wire to desired brim dimensions, snip excess wire and create second loop with pliers. Pass second loop through beginning loop and crimp closed. Slip stitch and finish round as normal.

Hi! I’m having trouble finding the yarn suggested in the pattern. What yarn can be substituted? Where can I purchase yarn. I’m also not clear on grams of each color.

    • Hi, it’s impossible to do the first round and have 12 sts at the end..
*Sdc in ring, dc in ring, ch 1* makes 3
*[2 dc in ring, ch 1] five times* makes 15
So we’ve got 18 and not 12.. makes every count after round one false and everything becomes very confusing..
Are we supposed to have 12 or 18? ????
      Thanks!
And thanks for the pattern which looks amazing!
