Dusk Daisy Cardigan

This is a gorgeous cardigan worked in floral motifs that are joined as you go, which means no after-pattern sewing! Featuring a wide, square neckline and three-quarter length sleeves, this classic top boasts the perfect spring fit.

Gauge: Each motif is 4″ (10 cm) wide with size B hook

Each motif is 4½” (11.5 mm) with size C hook

Materials

Super fine weight yarnYarn: Plymouth Yarns Estilo (80% Fine Merino Superwash, 20% Mulberry Silk; 381 yards [348 meters]/100 grams): 109 Rose Heather (MC, 5 (6, 7, 8) hanks)

Hook: US size B (2.25 mm) for sizes small and large; US size C (2.75 mm) for sizes medium and X-large

Special Stitches

dtr-cluster

Yo 3 times, insert hook into next st, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) 3 times, [yo, 3 times, insert hook into the same st, (yo, pull through 3 lps on hook) 3 times] twice.

Pattern

Choose your size. Using the correct hook for your chosen size, work motifs.

Floral Motif 1

Ch 6, make a ring with sl st in first ch.

Rnd 1: Ch 5 (Count as dc, ch 2), (dc in ring, ch2) 7 times, ending with sl st in 3rd ch. (8 dc)

Rnd 2: *(Sc, hdc, 3dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-2-sp; rep from * around, ending with sl st in first sc.

Rnd 3: *Ch 4, sl st between the next 2 sc; rep from * around, ending with sl st in first sc.

Rnd 4: *(Sc, hdc, 5dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-4-sp; rep from * around, ending with sl st in first sc.

Rnd 5: *Ch 5, sl st between the next 2 sc; rep from * around, ending with sl st in first sc.

Rnd 6: *(Sc, hdc, 7dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-4-sp; rep from * around, ending with sl st in first sc.

Rnd 7: Sl st into the next 5 sts, * ch 7, 3 dtr-cluster in 4th dc, (ch 3, 3 dtr-cluster in same sp) twice, ch 7, sc in next 4th dc; rep from * around, ending with sl st in first ch.

Rnd 8: Ch 3, * dc in next ch-7-sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same ch-7-sp, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3-sp, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next 2nd cluster, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3-sp, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-7-sp,

ch 3, dc in same ch-7-sp, dc in next sc; rep from * around, ending with sl st in 3rd ch.

Fasten off.

Floral Motif 2 and all the rest of motifs

Work same of Floral Motif 1 until the end of Rnd 7.

Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in next ch-7-sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same ch-7-sp, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3-sp, ch3, * 3 dc in next ch-3-sp) in next 2nd cluster, ch 1, sl st into the corresponding ch-3-sp of the previous motif, ch 1, 3 dc in same cluster, ch 1, sl st into the corresponding ch-3-sp of the previous motif, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-3-sp, ch 1, sl st into the corresponding ch-3-sp of the previous motif, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-7-sp, ch 1, sl st into the corresponding ch-3-sp of the previous motif, ch 1, dc in same ch-7-sp, dc in next sc, dc in next ch-7-sp, ch1, sl st into the corresponding ch-3-sp of previous motif, 3 dc in same ch-7-sp, ch 1, sl st into the corresponding ch-3-sp of the previous motif, ch 1, sl st into the corresponding ch-3-sp of the previous motif, ch 1; repeat from * until necessary, otherwise follow instructions for floral motif 1, ending with sl st in 3rd ch.

Fasten off.

Attach motifs as shown in the diagram.

Border

Attach yarn to the center of back neck.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch-sp and sc in each dc around, ending with sl st in first ch.

Rnd 2: *Sk next 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc, sk next 2 sc, sc in next sc; rep from * to end.

Fasten off.

Work as above for the edge of Sleeves.

Finishing

Weave in all ends.

Block cardigan to size.
