Gauge: 27 sts and 25 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in sc

Materials

Fine weight yarnYarn: Scheepjes Catona (100% Mercerized Cotton; 138 yards [126 meters]/50 grams): 413 Cherry (CC1, 1 ball), 503 Hazelnut (CC2, 1 ball), 408 Old Rose (CC3, 1 ball)

Hook: US size C/2 (3.0 mm)

Notions: Tapestry needle, removeable stitch markers, 7” zipper, sewing needle, matching thread as color of zipper.

Pattern Notes

This bag is worked in spiral rounds in back loop only without slip stitching or turning chains.

Use st marker to keep track of the first st of each rnd.

Work using tapestry technique where non-working colour yarns are carried along on the WS and worked over with the working yarn.

Pattern

With CC1, ch 45, work on both sides of foundation ch.

Rnd 1: Sc in 2nd ch from the hook, sc in next 42 ch, 3 sc in next ch, working in opposite side of foundation ch, sc in next 42 ch, 2 sc in next ch.

Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in next st, sc in next 42 sts, 2 sc in next 3 sts, sc in next 42 sts, 2 sc in next 2 sts.

Rnd 3: Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 43 sts, [2 sc in next st, sc in next st] twice, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 43 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st.

Rnds 4-54: Work charts for Side A over first 51 sts and Side B over next 51 sts.

Fasten off with invisible join.

Finishing

Seam zipper. Weave in all ends.

Add fringe if desired on the zipper head.
