Delicate Side to Side Shawl

This beautiful shawl is worked from side to side to create a trapezoid shape. Delicate edging is added at the end to perfect a gorgeous look that’s just right for cool summer nights.

Skill Level: Intermediate 

Size: Wingspan = Approx. 61″ (155 cm); Back length at the deepest point = 22″ (56 cm)

Gauge: 16 dc= 4″ (10 cm) after wet blocking

Materials

Yarn: DMC Cèbèlia (100% mercerized cotton size 10 crochet thread; 284 yards [260 meters]/50 grams): #745 Yellow (2 balls)
Hook: US size 7 (1.5 mm) steel crochet hook 

Special Stitches

4tr-cluster: [(Wrap yarn around hook twice, insert hook into next sp, pull yarn through, wrap yarn around hook, pull through 2 loops on hook) twice] 4 times, wrap yarn around hook and pull through all loops on hook.
Ch-3-picot: Ch 3, sc in 3rd ch.

Pattern Notes

If you are a loose crocheter, purchase 3 balls.
This shawl consists of three sections: section 1 is the increase section, section 2 is no increases or decreases and section 3 is the decrease section.

Pattern

Section 1

Ch 7. Dc into the first ch.
Row 1: Ch 5 (count as dc, ch 2), dc in same dc, ch 2, skip next ch-2-sp, dc in 3rd ch.
Row 2: Ch 5 (count as dc, ch 2), dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next ch-2-sp, (dc ch 2, dc) in next ch.
Row 3: Ch 5 (count as dc, ch 2), dc in same dc, * (ch 2, dc in next dc); repeat from * to end, dc in 3rd ch.
Row 4: Ch 5 (count as dc, ch 2), * (dc in next dc, ch 2); repeat from * to last dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in 3rd ch.
Rows 5-70: Repeat rows 3-4. (72 dc at the end of row 70) 

Section 2

Rows 71-80: Ch 5 (count as dc, ch 2), * dc in next dc, ch 2; repeat from * to last dc, dc in 3rd ch. 

Section 3

Row 81: Ch 3, * dc in next dc, ch 2; repeat from * to last dc; ch 2, dc in 3rd ch. (71 dc)
Row 82: Ch 5 (count as dc, ch 2), * dc in next dc, ch 2; repeat from * to last dc, dc in last dc, dc in 3rd ch. (70 dc)
Rows 83-150: Repeat rows 81-82. (3 dc on row 150)
Row 151: Ch 3, dc in next dc. 

Edging

Ch 4, * 4tr-cluster in next ch-sp, (ch 3, ch-3-picot) 3 times, ch 3, 4tr-cluster in same ch-sp, skip next ch-sp; repeat from *. End with 4tr-cluster in next ch-sp, (ch 3, ch-3-picot) 3 times, ch 3, 4tr-cluster in same ch-sp. Fasten off. 

Finishing

Weave in all ends.
Block shawl to size.
