Blueberry Fields Kimono

This kimono-shaped cardigan is worked from side to side, with all the pieces crocheted individually and then seamed. With ¾ length sleeves, this cardi is the perfect piece for those chillier summer nights.

Gauge: 20 sc = 4″ after blocking

Materials

Yarn: Bernat Satin (100% acrylic; 163 yards [149 meters]/100 grams): Teal (7 (8, 9, 11, 12) balls)
Hooks: US size H/8 (5.0 mm) hook
Notions: Tapestry needle

Abbreviations

FPDC: Work dc around the post of the st in row below from front of work.
BPDC: Work dc around the post of the st in row below from back of work.

Special Stitches

2X2 Rib – Multiple of 4 sts +2

Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in every ch across.
Row 2: Ch 2, FPDC in next st, (BPDC in next st) twice, (FPDC in next st) twice; rep from *. End with dc in last st.
Repeat row 2 for pattern. 

Waves Pattern – Multiple of 16 + 1 Chains

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in every ch across.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each of the next 2 sc, * ch 1, skip next sc, hdc in next sc, ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next sc, (ch 1, skip next sc, tr in next sc) twice, ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next sc, ch 1, skip next sc, hdc in next sc, (ch 1, skip next sc, sc in next sc) twice; repeat from *. End last repeat with sc in each of last 2 sc. Ch 1, turn.

Rows 37-52: Repeat Waves pattern on all sts twice.

Row 34: Work as row 7 then ch 65.

Work on next 112 sts only.
Rows 53-79: Repeat Waves pattern 3 times then work rows 2-4. Ch 114, turn.
For the rest of the body, left side and left sleeve, work as size small.

Left Side of Body

Row 72: Sc in every ch across then work as row 5.
Rows 73-87: Work as Waves pattern starting with row 6.
Row 88: Work as row 4 on next 160 sts. 

Sizes Large, 1x
Row 88: Sc in every ch across then work as row 5.
Rows 89-109: Work as Waves pattern starting with row 6.
Row 110: Work as row 4 on next 160 sts.

Row 96: Sc in every ch across then work as row 5.

Left Sleeve

Row 89: Work as row 5 on next 96 sts.
Rows 90-121: Work as Waves pattern starting with row 6.
Rows 122-124: Work as 2×2 rib. Fasten off. 

Finishing

Sew the sleeve seams and side seams.

Bottom Edge

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in the side of each sc, and 3 sc in the side of each tr. Turn.
Rows 2-4: Ch 1, sc in every sc across row. Turn.

Neckband

Start from left front edge.
Row 1: Ch 3, dc in every sc on both fronts, sc in the side of every sc and 3 sc in the side of every tr in back of the neck. Turn.
Rows 2-9: Work as 2×2 rib. Fasten off.
Block kimono to size.

    I’m making this, & I’m following the photograph, not the pattern – at least how it looks to me. Basically, I’m only doing rows 2 through 7 each time: I don’t think there are 4 rows of sc between each iteration. I like how it’s coming out so far. If I find the right side is not wide enough, I’ll add a pattern or two to it.

    Im searching for a poncho pattern from 2016 or 2015 issue. It was modeled in a brown and blue colorway. Can you assist in locating the pattern. Please respond to my comment I never receive feedback from you. I’m thinking this is the purpose of the comment section. Thank you
