Houndstooth Headwrap: Getting Started

November Crochet Along

Crochet Along (1)

Welcome back for the November Crochet Along! For those of you who are new, each month we journey through each stage of a project together, from the materials to the final embellishments. This month’s pattern is another great design from Janaya Chouinard at Charmed by Ewe: the Houndstooth Headwrap.

When your ears are cold, everything else on your body feels frozen, too. Always remember: staying warm can still be a fashion statement. Getting bundled up to face the elements can be a great time to show off your personality with a cute and stylish crochet headband pattern. The simple houndstooth stripes make this an easy design to master and an accessory that would go with any outfit, from a light jacket on a morning jog to a heavy coat for those frosty football games you can’t resist.

Plus, working up this pattern will add new variety to your look. Using this piece, you can style your hair in several cute ways: down to cascade around the piece, in a high ponytail with the headband holding back those pesky strays, or braided with the band adding an extra pop.

As if you need any more reasons to work up this pattern, it comes in five different sizes, so you could work this up for yourself or a lucky friend. If you’re thinking ahead towards Christmas gifts, a set of these would make great presents for a teen or for a “Mommy and me” dynamic duo.

  • Thank you so much for this pattern. I plan to make several and be ready to finish them when you give us part 2. My family members will love these for Christmas! Again, thanks!!

  • I would like the pattern for the houndstooth fingerless gloves. Where can I get this pattern.

  • When it comes to crochet, I have to confess it has overtaken my life. I wake up early just to enjoy some quiet crocheting time before I am swept up in my days. I do do enjoy your newsletters. God Bless you all.

  • Wish I could afford to buy a subscription I’ve lived trying to crochet since I was little but do not know how to make things..so frustrating..

  • I think it’s crappy of you not to include the entire pattern for the head wrap. Thanks a lot!
