Two-Step Tunisian Bag

Cosmetics, toiletries, works in progress, carry it all in this cute cosmetic bag. Featuring a flat bottom, tapered sides, and zipper closure, this bag makes the ideal accessory, whether you’re on the go or just in need of storage. Tunisian stitches mix seamlessly with traditional crochet to create a unique, basketweave texture. Plus, with a maximum of seven loops on the hook at any time, you don’t even need a Tunisian hook to make it!

Hook: US size H/8 (5.0 mm)

Notions: Tapestry needle, 9” zipper.

Abbreviations

tlo = third loop only

fvb = front vertical bar

tss = Tunisian simple stitch

tks = Tunisian knit stitch

trs = Tunisian reverse stitch

FwP = forward pass

RetP = return pass

BO = bind off

Special Stitches

Starting TSS Block

FwP: (Insert hook in tlo, yo, draw up a lp) in each of the specified number of sts. (There will be 1 more lp on your hook than the number specified)

RetP: Ch 1, (yo, pull through 2 lps on hook) until 3 lps remain on hook, yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook.

BO: Ch 1, sk first st, (sl st in front vertical bar of next st) across.

TSS Block

FwP: (Insert hook under fvb, yo, draw up a lp) in each st of the tss block below. (There will be 1 more lp on your hook than the number of stitches)

RetP & BO: Finish as for starting TSS block.

FwP – Sk first ch, (insert hook, yo, draw up a lp) in each remaining ch across. (6 lps on hook)

Rows 2-30: Trs across. (6 sts)

Edging Rnd:

Ch 1, working in back vertical bar as for trs, hdc in each st across. (6 hdc)
