Indigo Blooms Scarf

Merino wool provides the right amount of warmth to this lacy design. This is the perfect 2-row repeat pattern for that single skein of your favourite Indie dyed yarn.

Skill Level: Easy

Size: 7” wide x 84” long after blocking (including fringe)

Gauge: 10 sts and 28 rows (2 pattern repeats) = 4” [10 cm]

Materials

Yarn: Green Elephant Yarn SW Merino Nylon 4 Ply Sock (75% Merino, 25% Nylon; 465 yards [422 meters]/100 grams): #Indigo Gradient Set (5, 20gr balls)

Hook: US size E/4 (3.5mm)

Special Stitches

Shell – (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in indicated stitch

Pattern Notes

Beginning ch 4 counts as (1 dc, ch 1) throughout.

Scarf uses 2-row repeat for pattern.

Start with the lightest shade in your gradient yarn and end with the darkest shade.

Pattern

Ch 44.

Row 1: Dc in 6th ch from hook (counts as dc, ch 1, dc), ch 1, sk next ch, dc in next ch, *sk next 3 ch, Shell in next ch, sk next 3 ch, (dc in next ch, ch 1, sk next ch) twice, dc in next ch; rep from * across, ending with dc in last ch, turn. (3 Shells, 12 dc)

Row 2: Ch 4, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, *ch 3, sk next 3 dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch-2 sp of next Shell, ch 3, sk next 3 dc, (dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next ch-1 sp) twice, dc in next dc; rep from * across, ending with dc in 2nd ch of beg ch-6, turn. (12 dc, 6 sc)

Row 3: Ch 4, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, *sk next ch-3 sp, Shell in next ch-3 sp, sk next ch-3 sp, (dc in next dc, ch 1) twice, dc in next dc; rep from * across, ending with dc in 3rd ch of beg ch-4, turn. (3 Shells, 12 dc)

Rep Rows 2-3 for patt until desired length is reached, finishing with Final Row to straighten edge.

Final Row: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, *ch 3, sk next 3 sts of Shell, sc in ch-2 sp of Shell, ch 3, sk next 3 dc, (dc in next dc, ch 1) twice, dc in next dc; rep from * across, ending with dc in 2nd ch of beg ch-4, turn. (12 dc, 3 sc)

Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in ends.

Wet block gently and pin out to desired size, leave until completely dry.

Fringing

Cut lengths of yarn 5” long. You will need 4 lengths for each fringe piece.

Attach 9 fringe pieces to each end of Scarf, evenly spaced.
