Shindig Scarf

This lovely little scarf will add a bold highlight to your outfit for your next summer shindig. With symmetrical stitches and enticing color changes, each half of this scarf offers a visually unique experience. It’s sure to be the talk of the party!

Size: 4” / [10 cm] x 42.5” / [108 cm]

Gauge: 12.5 sc = 4” [10 cm] and Rows 1-6 = 2” [5 cm] in pattern

Materials

Medium weight yarnYarn: Queensland Collection Cairns (60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic; 190 yards [175 meters]/100 grams): #08 Wollongong (1 skein)

Hook: US Size K/10½ (6.5 mm)

Notions: Tapestry needle

Pattern

First Half

Ch 134 (multiple of 6 sts + 2)

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. (133 sc)

Row 2 (RS): Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.

Row 3: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), turn, sk 1 sc, dc in next sc, *ch 1, sk 1 sc, dc in next sc; rep from * across.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, *sc in ch-1 sp, sc in next dc; rep from * across.

Row 5: Rep Row 2.

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc in first sc, *sk 2 sc, (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc; rep from * across.

Fasten off.

Second Half

Row 1: With WS facing and working in free loops of beg ch, join yarn with sc in first ch, sc in each ch across. (133 sc)

Rows 2-6: Rep Rows 2-6 of First Half.

Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in ends. Wet block if desired.
