Evergreen Sequin Shawl

This airy shawl is the perfect accessory for those chilly summer nights and early fall days.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: Approx. 48” [122 cm] wide x 40” [101.5 cm] long

Gauge: 17 sc and 23 rows = 4” [10 cm]

Materials

Yarn: Patons Lace Sequin (68% acrylic, 14% polyester, 9% wool, 9% mohair; 344 yards [314 meters]/70 grams): #37222 Peridot (6 balls)
Hook: US size F/5 (3.75 mm) hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Special Stitches

Dtr: Yoh 3 times and draw up a loop in next st. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) 4 times.

Pattern

Ch 200.
Row 1 (RS): 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *Ch 3. (Yoh) twice and draw up a loop in same ch as last sc. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Miss next 5 ch. (Yoh) twice and draw up a loop in next ch. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook.Cluster made. Ch 3. 1 sc in same sp as last st. Rep from * to end of chain. Turn. (33 clusters)
Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as tr). (Yoh) twice and draw up a loop in top of next cluster. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – Beg cluster made. Ch 3. 1 sc in same sp as last st. *Cluster over same sp as last cluster and top of next cluster. Rep from *, ending with: Ch 3. (Yoh) twice and draw up a loop in same sp as last cluster. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. 1 tr in last sc. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – ending cluster made. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1. 1 sc in first st. *Cluster over same sp as last st and top of next cluster. Ch 3. 1 sc in same sp as last st. Ch 3. (Yoh) twice and draw up a loop in same sp as last sc. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. [(Yoh) twice and draw up a loop. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice] 4 times in next sc. (Yoh) twice and draw up a loop in top of next cluster. (Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – Bobble Cluster made. Ch 3. 1 sc in same sp as last st. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
Row 4: Repeat Row 2. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 1. 1 sc in first st. *Bobble Cluster over same sp as last st and top of next cluster. Ch 3. 1 sc in same sp as last st. Cluster over same sp as last st and top of next cluster. Ch 3. 1 sc in same sp as last st. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
Rep Rows 2-5 until work from beg measures approx 17” [43 cm], ending on a 2nd row of pat.

Divide for Front Opening

Next row (RS): Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. (Bobble Cluster over same sp as last st and top of next cluster. Ch 3. 1 sc in same sp as last st. Cluster over same sp as last st and top of next cluster. Ch 3. 1 sc in same sp as last st) 7 times. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.
Cont on these 14 clusters in pat for approx 25” [63.5 cm] more, ending on a 2nd row of pat.
Next row (RS): Ch 1. 1 sc in first st. *Ch 5. 1 sc in top of next cluster. Rep from * to end of row. Fasten off.
With RS of work facing, join yarn with sl st in same sp as last st was worked before Turn. (Ch 5. 1 sc in top of next cluster) 5 times. *Bobble Cluster over same sp as last st and top of next cluster. Ch 3. 1 sc in same sp as last st. Cluster over same sp as last st and top of next cluster. Ch 3. 1 sc in same sp as last st. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
Cont on these 14 clusters in pat for approx 25” [63.5 cm] more, ending on a 2nd row of pat.
Next row (RS): Ch 1. 1 sc in first st. *Ch 5. 1 sc in top of next cluster. Rep from * to end of row. Do not break yarn.

Edging

Rnd 1: Working down left side of Wrap, ch 1. 1 sc in side of last sc. *Ch 2. 1 sc in side of next tr. Ch 2. 1 sc in side of next sc.* Rep from * to next corner. Working across foundation ch, **Ch 2. 1 sc in next ch-5 sp. Ch 2. 1 sc in rem loop of ch where next sc was made. Rep from ** to next corner. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 6 (counts as dtr and ch 1). (1 dtr. Ch 1) 6 times in same sp as sl st. *(1 dtr. Ch 1) 7 times in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to 5th ch of ch 6. Fasten off. yarn ball
