Rosewood Duster

Yarn: Universal Yarn Uptown Bamboo DK, (80% Anti-Pilling Acrylic, 20% Bamboo, 284 yards [260 meters] / 1 ball): in MC #530 Canvas, 6 (7, 8, 9) (10, 11, 12) balls; CC1 #514 Tomato, 1 ball; CC2 #535 Oak, 1 ball; CC3 #532 Cinnamon, 1 ball.

Hooks: US H (5.00 mm) hook.

Notions: Tapestry needle, tape measure, scissors, removable stitch markers

Stitch Pattern

Double Crochet Mesh Patt:

Row 1: Ch 3, DC across, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first DC), *DC in space between 2 DC; Rep from * across, turn.

Rep Row 2 for Patt.

Pattern Notes

The cardigan is worked top-down, starting with the Back piece, to underarm. After the Left and Right Front pieces are added and worked to the underarm, the garment is joined and worked seamlessly down. The hem is worked in floral pattern in tapestry crochet. Sleeves picked up and worked seamlessly down to the cuffs. The collar is added on, using the floral tapestry crochet pattern.

Ch 3 counts as DC at beginning of row.

When workings tapestry crochet chart, change colors when finishing the previous stitch.

Carry unworked colors along when necessary, and crochet over them.

Right Front

With RS facing, join yarn between last 2 DC at the top right corner of Back.

Work in Patt until piece measures 7.5 (8, 8, 8.5) (9, 9.5, 10)”

Left Front

With RS facing, skip first 16 (19, 22, 25) (28, 31, 34) DC after Right Front, join yarn between next 2 DC.

Work in Patt across. (20 (22, 24, 26) (28, 30, 32) DC)

Work in Patt until the piece measures 7.5 (8, 8, 8.5) (9, 9.5, 10)”, ending with RS row, do not turn.

Join Body

Work 4 foundation DC, join to work across the Back, work in Patt, work 4 foundation DC, join to work across Right front, work in Patt across, turn.  (104 (115, 126, 137) (148, 159, 170) DC)

Continue to work body flat in Patt as established for a total of 30 Rows.

Place markers 2 markers after the first 22 (24, 26, 28) (30, 32, 34) DC, and next 58 (65, 72, 79) (86, 93, 100) DC, to mark future side increases.

Begin working side increases as follows:

Inc Row: * Work in Patt across to m, 2 DC in next sp; rep from * once more, work in Patt across. (106 (117, 128, 139) (150, 161, 172) DC)

Begin working Floral Patt in tapestry crochet, changing colors as shown in the Chart as follows:

Row 1: * Work across 47 sts of the Chart, sc across next 0 (7, 14, 21) (28, 35, 42) sts; rep from * once more, work across 47 sts of the Chart, sc next 1 (1, 1, 0) (0, 0, 0) st, turn.

Rep for Rows 2-21 of the Chart.

Work in sc for 5 Rows.

Fasten off.

Sleeves

With RS facing, join MC at the underarm, in the middle of underarm sts.

Set-up Rnd: Ch 3, 56 (60, 60, 64) (68, 72, 76) DC around armhole edge, sl st to top of ch-3, turn. 57 (61, 61, 65) (69, 73, 77) DC

Rnd 1: Ch 3, work in Patt around, sl st to top of ch-3, turn.

Rep Rnd 1 for Patt, until piece measures 13” from underarm.

Cuff

Inc Rnd: Ch 1, *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from* around to last 1 st, sc in last st, place BOR marker, do not join. 14 (15, 15, 16) (17, 18, 19) sc Inc’d. (71 (76, 76, 81) (86, 91, 96) sc)

Continue to work in sc for 5 Rnds, in a spiral, moving BOR marker for each Rnd.

Begin working Floral Patt in tapestry crochet, changing colors as shown in the Chart as follows:

Rnd 1: Ch 1, 12 (14, 14, 17) (19, 22, 24) sc, work across 47 sts of the Chart, 12 (15, 15, 17) (20, 22, 25) sc, turn.

Rep for Rnds 2-21 of the Chart.

Work in sc for 5 Rnds.

Fasten off.

Right Front Band

With RS facing, join MC in the bottom corner of Right Front.

Row 1 (RS): Ch 3, work 84 DC across Right Front edge, at a rate of 1 DC for every 2 sc rows, and 1 DC for every DC row, turn.

Work 4 rows in Patt.

Fasten off.

Left Front Band

With WS facing, join MC in the bottom corner of Left Front.

Work Left Front Band as for the Right Front Band.

Fasten off.

Collar

With RS facing, join yarn at the Right Front edge, after the Right Front Band.

Begin working Floral Patt in tapestry crochet, and continue to increase as follows:

Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, sc, pm, work across 1st to 31st sts of the Chart, sc in next 12 sts, work across 17th to 47th sts of the Chart, pm, sc, turn.

Row 2 (Inc Row): Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc to m, work across 47th to 17th sts of the Chart, sc in next 12 sts, work across 31st to 1st sts of the Chart, sc to m, 2 sc in last sc, turn. (70 (78, 82, 88) (94, 100, 106) sc)

Rep Rows 1 & 2 for the rest of the Chart.

Work 1 row of sc.

Fasten off.

Body Edging

With RS facing, join CC3 in the middle of the Back bottom edge.

Ch 2, hdc around the edges, working 3 hdc in corners, sl st to top of first hdc.

Fasten off.

Sleeve Edging

With RS facing, join CC3 at the cuff edge of the sleeve.

Ch 2, hdc around the cuff edge, sl st to top of first hdc.

Fasten off.

Rep for second sleeve.

Finishing

Weave in the ends. Steam-block the garment.
