Michele Maks

With a heavy heart, we remember Michele Maks, who sadly passed away on October 19, 2022. Michele Maks dedicated her life to the knit and crochet industry, beginning her professional journey in 1985. For 23 years, she passionately designed knit and crochet wear before ascending to the role of editor at Crochet World, the largest crochet magazine globally. Her career took a poignant turn when she faced an MS diagnosis, prompting her departure from the corporate sphere. Returning to her roots in Maine became a path of healing for Michele. Despite the challenges, she refused to part ways with the crochet world entirely, taking on the roles of both publisher and editor. Michele understood the transformative power of crochet and found joy in sharing her knowledge through teaching, fostering a gentle and empowering learning environment for enthusiasts eager to explore new techniques. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy continues to inspire countless crafters worldwide.
