How to Crochet Like a Pro

You may have a desire to learn and stitch like a pro, but I can tell you a little secret: there’s no such thing. Sounds bleak, doesn’t it? But the truth is, your stitching journey is unique to you, and what is your best may be very different from your fellow crochet community members.

Study of Blue Blanket

Let the colors flow with the Study of Blue Blanket, a striking throw that showcases a wide variety of textural crochet stitches. This center-out design begins with a circular motif and gradually transforms into a square blanket. Part of the beloved Study Series by Mikey of The Crochet Crowd, this project marks the 20th installment in the sampler collection. Use yarn that changes colors for you, or carefully control the color changes—it’s up to you. Stitch your way through colors you love and make a blanket to keep or gift to a friend.

Heritage Wool Beanie

Rooted in tradition and built for everyday wear, the Heritage Wool Beanie is a timeless accessory with thoughtful construction. Made with a sturdy Canadian wool known for its durability and warmth, this hat is designed to stand up to the chill. Subtle shaping adjustments at the start of each round create a smooth, rounded crown — free from visible growth lines — while single crochet stitches and post stitch ribbing give it clean texture and a snug, classic fit. A touch rustic, totally practical and made to last.

Is Crochet Art? Mikey Sellick Weighs In

Probably not, because it doesn’t have the same ring in tone, but I argue crochet is more accessible and less valued as an interest when there is so much more to it.
