C2F: Sk next bpdc, fpdc in next bpdc, fpdc in skipped bpdc.

Hdcdec: Yo, insert hook from front to back in next 2 sts, yo, draw through both sts, yo, draw through all 3 lps on hook.

Pattern Notes

Ch-2 counts as 1 hdc.

For the hdc decrease, it looks much better if you do the invisible one described (hdcdec) instead of the traditional hdc2tog.

Ch 35 (38, 41).

Row 1 (WS): Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 2, turn. (34 (37, 40) hdc)

Row 2 (RS): Hdc in next hdc, *fpdc in next hdc, hdc in next dc; rep from * across to last st, hdc in last st. Ch 2, turn.

Row 3: Hdc across. Ch 2, turn.

Rep Row 3 for patt until piece meas 7 (8, 9)”. Ch 1, turn after last row.

Armhole

Row 1: Sl st in first 4 (all sizes) hdc, ch 2, hdc across until 3 (all sizes) sts rem, leave rem sts unworked. Ch 2, turn. (28 (31, 34) hdc)

Row 2: Hdc hdc across. Ch 2, turn.

Rep Row 2 for patt until piece meas 4 (4.5, 5)” from start of armhole, ending with a WS row.

Neck Edge

Row 1: Hdc in next 9 (10, 11) hdc, fpdc in next hdc, (hdc in next hdc, fpdc in next hdc) 5 (5, 6) times, hdc to end.

Fasten off.

Left Front

Ch 18 (20, 22).

Row 1 (WS): Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 2, turn. (17 (19, 21) hdc)

Assembly

Sew Fronts to Back at shoulder seams.

Sew Sleeves into place in each armhole.

Sew side and sleeve seams.

Button/Buttonhole Bands and Edging

Row 1: With RS facing, sc 26 (30, 34) sts evenly spaced between bottom edge and start of V-neck shaping along Right Front, 3 sc in corner, pm in 2nd of those 3 sts, 16 (18, 20) sc up Right Front, sc2tog where the Front and Back meet, pm in that st, sc across Back Neck, sc2tog where Back and Front meet, pm in that st, 16 (18, 20) sc down Left Front to where the shaping ends, 3 sc in corner, pm in 2nd of those 2 sts, 26 (30, 34)  sts to bottom edge of Left Front. Ch 1, turn. (96 (108, 132) sc)

Row 2: Sc in first 2 (2, 1) sc, [ch 2, sk 2 sc, sc in next 4 (5, 5) sc] 5 (5, 6) times, sc to corner marker, 3 sc in marked st, pm in 2nd of those 3 sts, [sc across to st before next marker, sc2tog, mark that st] twice, sc to next corner marker, 3 sc in that st, pm in 2nd of those 3 sts, sc to end. Ch 1, turn. (88 (100, 122) sc)

Row 3: Sc to first corner marker, 3 sc in that st, remove marker, (sc to st before next marker, sc2tog, remove marker) twice, sc to next corner marker, 3 sc in that st, remove marker, *sc across to next ch-2 sp, 2 sc in next ch-2 sp; rep from * across, sc to end. Ch 1, turn. (100 (112, 136) sc)

Row 4: Sl st across to opposite end.

Fasten off.

Finishing

Sew buttons in place on button band opposite buttonholes.

Weave in all ends.
