Seafarer’s Banner

Ahoy there! Start manifesting your vacay goals. This Seafarer’s Banner spells out ‘ocean views only’ in a crochet interpretation of the nautical alphabet. Worked in simple patterns and nautical primary colors, these flags make a big impression in short order, bringing coastal charm to any space. Host a summer party with bold and festive decor, or let the nautical flair sail on all season long.

Time: Weekend Project

Skill Level: Easy

Size: Flags 4.5” x 4”, 112” total length

Gauge: 17 sts and 20 rows = 4” [10 cm] in sc after wet blocking

Materials

Yarn: Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK (100% acrylic; 306 yards [280 meters] / 3.5 ounces [100 grams]): 961 White (MC 1 ball), 978 Sunflower (CC 1 ball), 977 Signal Red (CC2 1 ball), 979 Royal (CC3 1 ball), 562 Midnight (CC4 1 ball)

Hook: US size G/6 4.0 mm

Notions: Tapestry needle

Pattern Notes

Pattern is worked flat in tapestry style in separate flag pieces then assembled in a no-sew style. Take care to check the sequence carefully, and note that the flags are assembled in reverse order (right to left). Keep out of reach of children as the long ribbon could present a hazard. Starting ch does not count as a st.
