Bead single crochet (bsc): Insert hook into indicated st, slide bead up on working yarn very close to hook, yo, pull up lp, adjust tension on hook so bead is against work, yo, pull through both lps on hook.

Single crochet join (sc join): With lp on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull up lp, yo, pull through both lps on hook.

Pull hook upwards to bring tail up through top of st, thread tail end through tapestry needle, skip beg st of same rnd, insert needle from back to front under top loops of next st, insert needle from front to back under top lps of marked ending st of same rnd, tighten tension to uniformly match top loop of beg st. Bring remaining tail to WS of work and knot to secure.

Pattern

Small Geode

Center (Make 1)

With desired colors of beads and MC, use dental floss threader to randomly thread approximately 50 beads onto beg end of first 5-yd card (or 100 beads onto 10-yd card).

Note: Recommended number of beads suggested to thread onto the first card of metallic ribbon or braid is an estimation and may vary depending upon the random threading of different bead sizes. More beads may need to be threaded onto the end length of the first card or transferred to the beg of the next card as work progresses.

Rnd 1 (WS): Leaving a 5-inch beg tail of MC, make a magic ring, ch 1 (see Pattern Notes), 10 sc in ring, pm (see Pattern Notes) in last st made, do not join (see Pattern Notes). (10 sc)

To add bead to magic ring center, pull beg tail tightly to close ring, use tapestry needle to pull end up through center to RS, use floss threader to thread beg tail with one 8mm bead, use tapestry needle to bring tail down through center to WS and knot securely.
