Up North Slippers

Step outside on a chilly fall morning while wearing these slippers and your feet will remain as warm as the coffee mug in your hand. A lining crocheted in fuzzy yarn makes these slippers the perfect cabin companion.

Special Stitches

sc dec: Insert hook into next st and YO, then pull through (there are now 2 loops on the hook). Insert hook into following st and YO, then pull through (there are now 3 loops on the hook). YO and pull through all 3 loops on hook.

Pattern Notes

This pattern is worked in the round, starting with the base and then the faux fur insert, which is stitched in before closing the slipper with the upper.

Sole (make 2)

Using MC and smaller hook, ch 16 (18, 20).

Rnd 1: Starting in 3rd ch from hook, 14 (16, 18) sc, work 4 sc in final st, rotate sole, 13 (15, 17) sc along other side of ch, 3 sc in final st, sl st to join. (34 (38, 42) sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, *13 (15, 17) sc, (2 sc in each of the next 4 sts); rep from * around, sl st to top of ch-1 to join. (42 (46, 50) sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, *13 (15, 17) sc, (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 4 times; rep from * around, sl st to top of ch-1 to join. (50 (54, 58) sts)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, *13 (15, 17) sc, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts) 4 times; rep from * around, sl st to top of ch-1 to join. (58 (62, 66) sts)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc evenly around, sl st to top of ch-1 to join. Do not cut yarn.

Sides (make 2)

Continuing with MC and smaller hook.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, *13 (15, 17) sc, (sc dec in next st, sc in next 2 sts) 4 times; rep from * around, sl st to top of ch-1 to join. (50 (54, 58) sts)

Rnds 2-4: Ch 1, sc evenly around, sl st to top of ch-1 to join.

Rnd 5: Work 6 (7, 8) sl sts, 26 (28, 30) sc, sl st.

Fasten off.

Faux Fur Insert (make 2)

Using CC and larger hook, ch 8 (9, 10).

Rnd 1: Starting in 3rd ch from hook, 6 (7, 8) sc, work 4 sc in final st, rotate sole, 5 (6, 7) sc along other side of ch, 3 sc in final st, sl st to join. (18 (20, 22) sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, *5 (6, 7) sc, (2 sc in each of the next 4 sts); rep from * around, sl st to top of ch-1 to join. (26 (28, 30) sts)

Rnd 3-5: Ch 1, sc BL evenly around, sl st to top of ch-1 to join.

Fasten off.

Upper (make 2)

Using MC and smaller hook, ch 7 (9, 11).

Row 1: Starting from 3rd ch from hook, 5 (7, 9) sc, work 4 sc in final st, rotate sole, 5 (7, 9) sc along other side of ch, turn. (14 (18, 22) sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, 5 (7, 9) sc, (2 sc in each of the next 4 sts), 5 (7, 9) sc, turn. (18 (22, 26) sts)

Row 3: Ch 1, 5 (7, 9) sc, (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 4 times, 5 (7, 9) sc, turn. (22 (26, 30) sts)

Row 4: Ch 1, sc evenly around, don’t turn or cut yarn.

Finishing

Insert Upper into slipper base, sew in place using sewing thread.

Match center toe of upper with center toe of slipper base.

Continuing with MC and smaller hook, evenly sl st BL Upper to FL slipper.

Fasten off. Weave in all ends.
