Can’t find this yarn online, even using the links in the pattern. What weight is it?

  • I believe it is supposed to state End 10-14 and not 11-14. Easy fix, but that’s only my honest and simple answer. Do not know for sure. Guess I’m bout to find out. And yoh simply means yarn over hook. WaWatch a video. Easy stuff once you try. Blessings!

I just crocheted this up and with the rnd 4 given above this still does not work. However, the initla rnd 4 I posted on 8th and the rnd 4 I posted today – exactly the same – works fine. and gives the correct stitcg count.

I wish that whomever proff read this the first and subsequent times could actually count properly. it would have saved a lot of readres a lot of annoyance. Not well done.

I still can’t see how Rnd 4 works correctly. In each repeat, according to unpated pattern, you use the first 2 sts from previous row, miss the next dcfp then use the next dcbp. This equates to 1 extra st for each 4 sts = 16 + 4 = 20 sts at end of rnd 4. Please explain the thoughts behind this.because i still don’t get it! Surely rnd 4 should be:

Ch 2. *1 dcfp around next dcfp. 2 dcbp around next dcbp. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first dcfp. (24 sts)

  • I agree with Georgina. Could I have figured out there was a mistake around row 3 or 4, and how to correct it? Would I have decided the body rows should have been 10-14 not 11-14? Probably. But this was offered free as inducement to buy a magazine, and yet it does not impress because of these mistakes. Even more importantly, no corrections have been published which should have been done immediately when errors were noted. I’ve had other patterns where the instructions were sloppy, and I won’t order from them again. So as a ‘loss leader,’ this pattern fails on 2 counts. 1) mistakes -forgivable and 2) lack of caring that there are mistakes- unforgivable.

I understand the frustration of those who have asked for the pattern to be corrected and have been ignored. The skill level is described as easy but with all the mistakes it ceases to be fun, especially for a beginner and may well put some beginners off crochet for life. It’s certainly going to stop a lot of people subscribing to “I like crochet” which is the purpose of offering a free pattern. I came here via an email I got which I expect goes to thousands of people. That’s a lot of potential customers to show lack of professionalism to.

Wow. I found this pattern and was tickled to be able to access it for free. I am a self taught crocheter, I actually read a few books and learned to crochet and I am able now to use this hobby as part if my pain management regimen as i am disabled and suffer horrific pain daily. So since I find such joy and pleasure in my creations I was amazed and ashamed for some of the ridiculous comments. ..this lady kindly put the effort into sharing her pattern and instead of using the brain in your head to figure out the one dang mistake. You’re all acting like she kicked your best treeing dog….grow up jeeze…if youre already nine rows into a pattern and you cant figure out what comes next…maybe youre just not that good

It should be correct if “I Like Crochet” are to encourage people to subscribe. It’s not about kindly sharing a pattern; it’s about getting paid subscriptions. As such this pattern with its errors and lack of guidance/apology/correction is going to have the opposite outcome.

Yes, that would work, too, and end up with virtually the same result in the end. Great to have two versions that work! 🙂 I’ll try my version, because I like the single dcbp to start. 🙂

By the time you get to row 10/11 you are in the same place. The st count in brackets is going to be wrong whatever, as they are a st out by row 4 if you count up the sts in the repeat. That follows for st count all the way through the pattern in both versions.

  • It is a darn shame that this pattern was published with so many mistakes — Doesn’t someone proofread these patterns to make sure the directions are right. I have crochet for years and never found a free pattern that I could not follow. This one takes the cake and I’d sure like to see someone go over this and correct these mistakes and get this pattern done right. This yarn is not cheap and I was looking forward to wearing it soon, but until this is fixed, I’ll have to just wait and hope that it will be corrected properly. Rd. 5 doesn’t seem to be written properly either. WHAT A MESS!!

  • Hi, I have been crocheting for a lifetime and I have been working on this pattern. Here is what I have figured out. The first mistake is in row 3, not 4. It should read:

Rnd 3: Ch 2. *1 dcfp around next dc. 2 dcbp around next dc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first dcfp

Then, I believe the only other mistake is that after row 9 it should say “rows 10 -14” This is what worked for me. Hope it helps.

Actually, afai see, it is actually rnd 4 that is missing. Rnd 4 above is actually rnd 5, rnd 5 is rnd 6, etc, until rnd 9 is rnd 10.

    Rnd 4 would be:

Rnd 4: Ch 2. *1 dcfp around next dcfp. 2 dcbp around next dcbp. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first dcfp. (24 sts)

Note that the sts in brackets at ends of rows will be 8 out because of this error.

  • Not all of the abbreviations are explained and I’m sure a true beginner needs them all. As someone else suggested, Google “crochet stitch abbreviations” and you can also Google how to make each stitch by name and you will find links to videos on u-tube showing you how to do them. These videos can be very helpful. Some are better than others. Happy crocheting. 🙂

  • Have you added the missing row? You should include IN YOUR PATTERN all the abbreviations for special stitches, especially if beginner crocheters are to use it. No one should have to go away from the pattern to find out their meaning. That’s standard practice.

Seems like the pattern was written for a bulky yarn. Check the recommended hook size for the yarn you want to use. If it’s a K or L, that’s the same as this pattern uses and it should work up just fine.

I don’t know all the abbreviations. How can I find out what they mean. This pattern (for the hat) is supposed to be easy for beginners, but it looks like I’m supposed to already know these abbreviations like dcfp. Rep is obviously repeat, but what about the others. Is there a legend somewhere?
