Rose Resort Tee

Crochet up this unique layering piece in no time! Mostly double crochet mesh, this tee employs strategically placed filled squares to make rose, vine, and leaf pictures. Be sure to wear it over a highly contrasting color to maximize the effect of the pattern.

Tee is intended to fit with up to 6” of positive ease

Gauge: 10 Squares wide x 12 Squares tall = 4” [10 cm] in filet crochet, after wet blocking.

Lace Weight YarnYarn: Nazli Gelin Garden 10 (100% Egyptian Giza mercerized cotton; 306 yards [280 meters]/50 grams): 700-40 bright fuchsia, 4 (4, 5, 5, 5, 6) balls.

Hook: US steel 8 (1.5 mm)

Stitch Guide

Solid Square: If worked on top of another Solid Square, dc in each of the next 3 dc. If worked on top of an Empty Square, work 2 dc in ch-2 sp, dc in next dc.

Empty Square: If worked on top of a Solid Square, ch 2, sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc. If worked on top of another Empty Square, ch 2, sk chc-2 sp, dc in next dc.

Half Square: At the beginning of a row, chain 3. At the end of a row, ch 3, sl st in last dc, sl st up the ch 3 to top of last dc made.

Picot: Ch 3, sl st in top of st just made.

Pattern Notes

This tee is worked in 2 pieces and joined together with single crochet.

Filet Crochet uses double crochet and chain spaces to make Solid and Empty Squares. There are also Half Squares in this pattern used at the Neck Shaping.

Chain 5 at the beginning of each row of Body unless otherwise noted. This counts as a double crochet plus chain 2.

Pattern

Front

Ch 144 (156, 168, 180, 192, 204).

Set-up Row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across, turn – 142 (154, 166, 178, 190, 202) dc.

Row 1 (RS): Ch 5 (counts as dc + ch 2), sk next 2 dc, *dc in next dc, ch 2, sk next 2 dc; rep from * across to last dc, dc in last dc, turn (counts as Row 1 of Body chart).
Row 2 (WS): Ch 5 (counts as dc + ch 2), *dc in next dc, ch 2; rep from * across to last dc, dc in last dc, turn (counts as Row 2 of Body chart).
Rows 3-41: Follow Rows 3-36 of Body chart, working Solid and Empty Squares as indicated.
Row 42: Ch 26, sc in second ch from hook and each ch across, work Row 42 of Body chart to end, turn.

Upper Body

Row 1 (RS): Ch 30, dc in 9th ch from hook, (ch 2, sk next 2 ch, dc in next ch) 6 times, ch 2, dc in first dc, work Row 1 of Upper Body to end – 63 (67, 71, 75, 79, 83) total Squares.
Rows 2-15: Follow Rows 2-15 of Upper Body Chart, working Solid and Empty Squares as indicated.

Shape Left Front
Row 16 (WS): Work Left Front over 24 (26, 28, 30, 32, 34) Squares, turn, leaving rem sts unworked.
Row 17: Ch 3 (counts as Half Square), work to end.
Rows 18-22 (24, 25, 26, 28, 29): Follow Rows 18-22 (24, 25, 26, 28, 29) of Upper Body Chart – 21 (23, 25, 27, 29, 31) Squares rem. Fasten off.

Shape Right Front

With WS facing, sk 15 center Neck Squares, join yarn with sl st to first dc of next Square.

Row 16 (WS): Ch 5 (counts as first dc + ch 2), work Row 16 over 24 (26, 28, 30, 32, 34) Squares to end, turn.
Rows 17-22 (24, 25, 26, 28, 29): Follow Rows 17-22 (24, 25, 26, 28, 29) of Upper Body Chart – 21 (23, 25, 27, 29, 31) Squares rem. Fasten off.

Lower Edging

With RS facing, attach yarn to first ch on beg-ch edge at right hand side.

Row 1 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next 2 ch, *dc in next ch, Picot, dc in next 2 dc; rep from * across, ending dc in last 3 dc. Fasten off.

Back

Work as for Front to Lower Edging, considering RS the WS and vice versa so that the Front and Back pieces will be mirrored.

Finishing

Block pieces to finished measurements. Place Front and Back pieces tog with RS facing. Join shoulder seams with single crochet, working 2 sc in each ch-2 sp and 1 sc in each dc. Join underarm and side seams with single crochet, working 2 sc in the side of each row and 1 sc in top of each dc.

Neck Edging

Attach yarn to shoulder seam with sl st.

Rnd 1: Work 3 sc in the side of each row, 2 sc in each ch-2 sp, 1 sc in top of each dc along front of neck edge, while working a Picot every 3 sc, join with sl st to beg sc.

Sleeve Edging

With RS facing, attach yarn to sleeve seam.

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next 2 ch, *dc in side of next dc, Picot, dc in next 2 dc; rep from * around, ending dc in last 3 dc, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. Fasten off.

Weave in ends. Block Edgings.

    On the pattern it states in the front o follow rows 3-36 but the pattern rows are 3-41 is this a mistake and you carry on until row 41 not 36

    The abbreviations seem normal crochet no legend needed for me.
