Spring in Bloom Shawl

As you welcome the first returning buds of spring, wrap yourself up in a lightweight shawl. This asymmetrical shawl is worked from tip to tip in a simple V-stitch pattern, with the floral edging worked as you go.

Skill Level: Easy

Size: 24″ wide x 64″ long (blocked)

Gauge: 7 V-sts and 8 rows = 8″ after wet blocking

Yarn:

Fine Weight Yarn Classic Elite Yarns Liberty Wool Light (100% washable wool; 200 yards [182 meters]/50 grams): #6697 Dusty Teal (4 balls)

Hook: US size I/9 (5.5 mm) hook

Notions: Tapestry needle

V-st: (Dc, ch 1, dc) in st or sp indicated.

Ch 13.
Row 1: Dc in 5th ch from hook (4 sk ch count as dc and ch 1), sk next ch, dc in next ch, ch 3, sk next 3 ch, dc in last 3 ch.
Row 2 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as dc throughout), turn, dc in next 2 dc, ch 3, dc in next dc, V-st in next ch-1 sp, dc in last dc.

Turn, sc in first ch-2 sp, ch 1, sl st in first ch-3 sp on previous flower, ch 1, sc in same ch-2 sp on new flower, *sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, sl st in next ch-3 sp on previous flower, ch 1, sc in same ch-2 sp on new flower; rep from * one time, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next 14 ch-2 sps, sk next dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc, sk next dc, (sc, ch 3, 2 sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-3 sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in each ch-1 sp across to corner. Working in end of rows, (sc, ch 3, 2 sc, ch 3, sc) in first row, (sc, ch 3, sc) in each row across.
