Good Times Hat

Keep your hair in place with this fun bobble slouch hat. It’s open and airy, not tight and binding. It’s great for spring, summer and heading into fall!

Size: 20-22” Circumference

Gauge: 16 sts and 16 rows = 4” [10cm] in hdc in the round

Materials

Yarn:

Medium weight yarn Cascade Longwood (100% Superwash Extra Fine Merino Wool; 191 yards [175 meters]/100 grams): 23 Stonewash, 1 skein

Hook: US Size H/8 (5.0 mm)

Notions: Markers; tapestry needle

Pattern Notes

The hat is worked from the bottom to top.

Mark the first stitch of round with a stitch marker.

Special Stitches

Bobble

Yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull back through. Yo, pull through first 2 loops on hook. Yo, insert hook into same st, yo, pull back through. Yo, pull through first 2 loops on hook. Yo, pull through all loops to complete.

Pattern

Ch 59.

Rnd 1: Hdc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, sl st to first st to join – 58 sts.

Rnds 2-6: Ch 1, hdc in the horizontal st on the back of the last hdc rnd around, sl st to the first st to join.

Rnd 7: Ch 2, yo, insert hook in same st, yo, pull back through, yo, pull through first 2 loops, yo, pull through all loops to complete first bobble, ch 1, sk 1, *Bobble in next st, ch 1, sk 1; rep from * around, sl st to first bobble to join.

Rnds 8-20: Ch 2, yo, insert hook in same ch-1 sp right before the Bobble, yo, pull back through, yo, pull through first 2 loops, yo, pull through all loops to complete first bobble, ch 1, *Bobble in next ch-1 sp, ch 1; rep from * around, sl st to first bobble.

Fasten off, leaving an 18” length.

Finishing

Sew the end together to finish. Weave in all ends. yarn ball
