Raindrop Lace Shawl

This delicate Raindrop Lace Shawl is made from a beautiful watery-blue yarn spun from silk, to achieve a “liquid” drape, and seacell fibers, which comes from ocean grown kelp. Plus, make sure you check out the stunning Wheel of Fire shawl featured in February 2015.

Skill Level: Advanced

Size: Sample shown 98” by 8” after blocking

Gauge: 25 sts and 8 rows = 4” [10 cm] in dc before blocking (exact gauge is not essential)

Materials

Yarn: Anzula Mermaid (60% seacell, 40% silk; 700 yards [640 meters])/115 grams): Cornflower (1 skein)
Hook: US size C/2 (2.75 mm) hook
Notions: Yarn needle

Abbreviations

Treble/triple crochet (tr): Yo 2 times, insert hook in st, yo and draw up lp (4 lps on hook), (yo and pull through 2 loops) 3 times.

Special Stitches

Foundation double crochet (Fdc): Yo, insert hook under 2 loops at base of previous Fdc (or indicated st), yo and draw up lp (3 lps on hook), yo and pull through 1 lp, [yo and pull through 2 lps] 2 times.
Tunisian double crochet (Tdc): Yo, insert hook in st, yo and draw up lp, yo and pull through 2 lps, leave remaining lp on hook.
Double crochet 3 stitches together bobble (dc3tog-bo): [Yo, insert hook in st, yo and draw up lp, yo and pull through 2 lps] 3 times (4 lps on hook), yo and pull through all lps on hook.
Triple crochet 2 stitches together bobble (tr2tog-bo): [Yo 2 times, insert hook in st, yo and draw up lp, {yo and pull through 2 lps} 2 times] 2 times (3 lps on hook), yo and pull through all lps on hook.

Pattern Notes

For alternate widths Fdc multiple of 14 plus 4 in Foundation Row.
When working into Tdc, insert hook through top vertical bar of stitch from right to left and front to back.

    I have tried this pattern several times, my friend, an expert crocheter also tried it and the first row is definitely incorrect. another friend tried it and basically reversed the whole first row and it is now working.

    Would it be possible to get a picture of the first three or four rows. Just can’t get it right.
